The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is proud to announce that Scott Van Pelt, ESPN SportsCenter anchor and host of SVP & Russillo, will host the 2012 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards on January 24, 2013 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.
Scott Van Pelt joined ESPN in spring 2001 as the network’s lead professional golf reporter. He has since become a SportsCenter anchor and host of a weekday afternoon show on ESPN Radio, while remaining the lead reporter and host of the network’s coverage of golf’s grand slam events.
Presented by Medical Mutual and FirstMerit Bank, the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards is the biggest sports show in Northeast Ohio, honoring the best and brightest of the area’s amateur and professional sports. The star-studded dinner event consistently boasts attendance levels exceeding 1,000 and features many national and local celebrity guests including Olympians as well as current and former Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians players. Award presentations include: High School Athlete of the Year, Collegiate Athlete of the Year, Amateur Athlete of the Year, Professional Athlete of the Year, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland 2012 Best Moment in Sports, the Cleveland Clinic Courage Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
