Stark: Indians Looking To Get Younger, Cabrera Second Most Likely To Be Traded

With baseball’s winter meetings about to begin, ESPN’s Jayson Stark took a survey of MLB executives, agents, and scouts about some of the bigger headlines that may come out of the meetings. In it, four of the seventeen label Asdrubal Cabrera as the “most likely to get traded”, garnering the second most votes behind Rays pitcher James Shields. Two of those surveyed also said the Tribe would be “this year’s Angels” and dominate the headlines.

Other sections include comments about Cabrera’s asking price being so incredibly high that he may end up not getting moved. In addition, one describes the Indians as “ready to retool and get younger.”

I just want something to happen. I’m tired of this team reacting to moves other teams make first.

Most likely scenario: Cheap Dolan ownership has Choo, Cabrera, and Perez traded for prospects and more bargain bin FAs. Would like to see Youkilis and Swisher on the team for veteran leadership and playoff experience (not to mention boosting the middle of the lineup). Swisher would lessen the impact of trading Choo and Swisher likes playing in the Buckeye state (and we should laud the Buckeye as well).

Showing once again how little Espn baseball writers really know. Give me a break! Unless I missed the headline where the Dolan’s sold the team.

There’s nothing to indicate that the Dolan ownership is cheap. If you only have $85 to bring to the blackjack table but it’s $100/hand, not playing doesn’t make you cheap. It makes you underfunded. There’s no moral failing here, they’re just over their head.

I did not know offering Shane Victorino 44 million over 4 years was considered cheap…The indians are not cheap….We put a lot of money in Travis Hafner, Sizemore, and a few other players that didnt pan out….That’s not our fault it’s just the way it is….They tried to make a good team and it didnt work….They lost a lot of money because of Hafner and sizemore…..Now they have to rebuild…..Deal with it !
