Nice breakdown of some dirty Steelers plays– “If you haven’t heard, Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor has been getting a ton of flak from Steelers fans and players for the hit he put on rookie Steelers offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The hit was not flagged by the officials, but let’s take a look at what happened.” [Pokorny/Dawgs by Nature]
“When the dust settled on Ohio’s 45-14 shellacking of Louisiana-Monroe in the Independence Bowl on Friday, Bobcats coach Frank Solich made a point to thank his senior class for a wonderful four years. It’s during that span that the Bobcats have gone from a cellar dweller in the Mid-American Conference to one of the most prolific teams among the nonautomatic qualifying conferences.
And in the last two seasons, Ohio has won 10 games each year and its Independence Bowl win sealed the first back-to-back bowl wins in program history. So, it begs the question, what’s next for Solich?” [Watson/Dr. Saturday]
Ever wonder what is said to recruits when they visit a campus? You should watch this video– “And when you walk into this room — into this room — you’re going to put on gear for battle. You’re going to go out onto that field every day where championships are won. Not in the stadium. The stadium is where we celebrate what we do all week. But you’re going to put on the gear right here and go out onto that field and that weight room and you’re going to develop a championship mentality. You’re going to be around guys who are just like you, who chose to come to Ohio State because they want to win a national championship. What could be better in the world than that?
Parents, some day you will sit in those bleachers, some day really soon and say, “That’s my boy. Look at him. Oh my, look at him,” and your heart will be filled with pride. You won’t believe the changes that will happen with your soon. You won’t believe it. I’ve seen it. I’ve only had the chance to be here for nine months and I will tell you — I promise you — I’m 51 years old and I’ve never seen anything like this. I can’t wait to get here every day to be around these players and to be around these coaches to know that what we are doing is truly special. And your son has been invited to join us.” [Priestas/Eleven Warriors]
More uniform tweak suggestions– “Cleveland Browns: Funny enough, as I write this on a cold Thursday morning (it’s 2:46am CST as I write this), this team feels kind of relaxing to write about, as they’re the team that I think of whenever I think of a chilly morning/afternoon football game. Well, them and the Packers. What I did here was simply added striped brown socks that matched the brown jersey’s sleeves to the home uniform. I also removed the Al Lerner “AL” memorial from the left sleeve (which — unless I have my dates mixed up, in which I apologize for my ignorance — they were already planning to do in 2013 [scroll down to the ticker]). Everything else stays the same. Home uniform is on the left, road uniform is on the right.” [Hecken/Uni-Watch]
Finally, one of Grantland’s predictions for 2013- “8. God no longer hates Cleveland. Ha, just kidding.” [Lee/Grantland]
