WFNY Roundtable: The Chip Kelly debacle and the ongoing search for a Browns head coach
January 7, 2013Sizemore potentially eying mid-season to sign with MLB team
January 7, 2013Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting today that Cavaliers small forward Omri Casspi has requested a trade from the Cavaliers.
“Dropped out of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ rotation, forward Omri Casspi, the NBA’s first Israeli-born player, has requested a trade, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Casspi has shown significant flashes of promise in his young career, but he has become an afterthought for the struggling Cavaliers since missing five games with gastroenteritis in December.
Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant has been making calls on possible deals for Casspi, but nothing has materialized. The request for a trade was made through Casspi’s representatives with Creative Arts Agency (CAA), sources said”
Casspi is averaging 4.9 points per game for the Cavaliers this season, and 13.3 minutes per game, but has not gotten consistent minutes this season at all. Casspi was traded to the Cavaliers along with a conditional draft pick for J.J. Hickson.
In other Cavaliers news, the team recalled Jon Leuer from the Canton Charge of the D-League.

Until I read this headline, I had completely forgotten that Omri Casspi was on this team.
Yea didn’t see this one coming at all!
ESPN better update their tickers. “Dirk upset with Mavs move aside”, we have a real headline for you!
So what is the minimum you would take for Casspi?
$25 gift card to Applebees?
I hope wherever he goes he gets a real chance. I’m not saying he is great or would be a difference maker on our or any team, but I think he showed earlier this year he at least deserves a shot.
Have fun Crapssi, the only place that will trade for you is D-league or WNBA if you can grow your hair out and tuck back
I’d like to offer Portland Casspi and Sacto’s first round pick for Hickson – who is averaging 12 and 11 in TWENTY NINE MINUTES A GAME and is younger than Casspi. How quickly would Portland hang up? Or would it take a while because of all the hysterical laughing on the other end
if they still have to 2-$20 I’d go down $5….but nothing wrong with starting high.
You already have JJ junior in Thompson so it wouldn’t make sense.
he’s a bum, a YMCA team wouldn’t trade for this turd. send him back overseas, hopefully he’s still under warranty.
Chipotle and you have a deal
You mean because Samardo Samuels, whoops I mean Jon Leuer, Whoops I mean…. Wait who is the 4th big man?
this is such a great comment. just the right amount of snark
Are you sure this didn’t originate from The Onion?
it’s not like another team didn’t have to completely give up on the potential of Hickson as well before the light bulb finally went on that he needs to actually assert effort to succeed in the NBA.
thank you sir.
Wait he missed 5 games for the farts? Wouldn’t that help him more than hurt him playing basketball. No one would want to guard him or box him out!
I would like to point out that if we lose Casspi, chances are we are also losing Tal Talmon. Have you not been keeping current on your jspace?!? http://www.jspace.com/news/articles/omri-caspi-and-new-girlfriend-make-it-official/10432
“Casspi has shown significant flashes of promise in his young career”
Uh…what?
can you explain this reference?
Kinda cold-hearted around here today. I like Omri, says all the right things does all the right things. I just don’t think he fits into our system. I hope he finds a home and does well for himself.
No. A $10 gift card to Pilot/Flying J.
When he was in Sacramento, he actually put up decent numbers.
I think it’s Kevin Jones right now… I actually like Jones a lot. Huge effort guy, excellent rebounder, complete player. Not a dynamic athletic presence, but the NBA is full of 10-year vets who never have been.
Cuz, you know… without a reference it looks a tad anti-semitic.
44% from 3pter when he got some time this year (ignore what happens when he steps inside the arc though).
Or even with a reference
That first sentence slayed me.
Yeah, I like him a lot too. We’ve seen a bunch of “AAAA” NBDA guys who can make it rain against vastly inferior competition, but fall flat at the NBA level. Jones, however, can rebound and play halfway decent defense. His offensive game is limited against NBA level bigs, but that will improve over time, and the other end of the floor make him more likely to stick. His effort probably keeps him out of Scott’s doghouse too.
It’s possible it’s just unintentionally nonsensical, but the phrase “you Jew” always sort of sets off the spidey sense.
It’s amusing that a promising young guy went to SAC and turned terrible, and the promising young guy they sent back also turned terrible. At least we got a draft pick. (probably)
Who???
Would the Canton Charge count? Him and Hargondy (sp) would rule that league….
And in other news, Romney demands a recount…..
Jones reminds me a little bit of Leon Powe… When he still had two working knees, before he was on the Cavs.
