NFL News: Browns LB Quentin Groves arrested in prostitution sting

Newly signed Cleveland Browns linebacker Quentin Groves was arrested on charges of soliciting prostitutes, Cleveland Scene’s Vince Grzegorek reports. Groves was caught in a sting run by the Orange and Beachwood police along with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department.

Per Grzegorek, Groves responded to an advertisement and requested “full service” from an officer posing as a prostitute. According to the records, a price was agreed upon during the call before he arrived and nearly $200 was taken as evidence.

The Browns signed Groves to a two-year, $2.8 million contract this past offseason. He and new Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton spent last season together in Arizona where the linebacker was a useful reserve, tallying 46 tackles and four sacks despite starting just seven times. He played in all 16 games in 2012, and has played in no fewer than 15 during his five years in the NFL.

One of 15 men arrested in the sting, Groves’ court date is reportedly set for May 10.

Hahahaha… awesome. That’s just pure laziness, Quentin Groves. As an NFL player, you pretty much just have to go out to a night club to get some action that night… I guess putting in a half hour of small talk is too much work for QG.

  • Harv 21

I believe Mel Kiper Jr. did question his motor.

  • MrCleaveland

Will he get a rebate on his $200?

  • Natedawg86

Maybe he just figured he would have spent $200 dollars on dinner and drinks…

    Memo

    To: Mike Lombardi
Subject: So You Wanna Redeem Yourself as GM

Mike- respond quickly and forcefully, no apologetics or minimizing.

Good example: We hold every member of the organization to the highest standards of conduct and will not tolerate anything that would embarrass the organization or city (keep straight face, avoid glare of owner).

Bad example: “The police said he was the nicest john they ever busted, and in any case check out this file photo – the undercover officer was pretty smokin.”

  • Natedawg86

Why would he pay up front? lol

  • Harv 21

can’t believe we went a full 6 minutes before the rebate joke

  • The_Real_Shamrock

And the hits just keep on comin’!!!

  • The_Real_Shamrock

    False start?

  • JK

    lol……………

  • Harv 21

Don’t worry, Lombardi, what’s happened this week is how the NFL hazes all the new GMs. Just watch your draft board … stop whining, kick the grenade away! … watch the board. Yes, go answer the phone, but watch the board.

  • mgbode

    Is it a sandwhich board?

But his hand techniques and ability to get around the end…

  • Harv 21

sandwich or sammich. Pick me a winner.

  • Harv 21

apparently, some players’ hips are a little too loose …

  • mgbode

    while other areas are stiff

  • MrCleaveland

Nothing to see here. He propositioned an “insignificant number” of undercover cops.

  • MrCleaveland

The cops of toney Orange and Beachwood should be ashamed of themselves for preying on an “unsophisticated” customer.

  • Harv 21

and then someone advised us to re-read “Before You Comment.”

  • Harv 21

    better

  • JHop

How is it that Antonio Cromartie can have 12 children with 8 different women, but Groves has to pay for a one night stand?

  • JF

What are the Beachwood and Orange police doing operating a prostitution sting? Are they that bored?

you weren’t reading his scouting profile?

but fair enough, I will stop here rather than copy/paste what is listed in the negative section in parenthesis.

  • MrCleaveland

But you still didn’t invite me over to sit next to Ed on the couch.

  • Jay

Not much else to do there maybe?

  • porkchop

Groves; “I thought her slutty cop outfit looked a little too “coppy”.
Side note, does everyone realize that if we just legalized prostitution we could probably significantly cut down on pro-player baby making? Girls you meet in clubs are at best iffy about protection and more than likely forgoing it in hopes of getting paid. Professional sex workers aren’t going to get pregnant, they aren’t going to show up at your house at 3 in the morning messing up your home life and they most definetly aren’t going to leave text messages on your phone that your wife is going to find. Legalize it, have license fees to cover drug and disease testing, and tax it.
And while were at it lets legalize rebate scams as well.

  • Jay

The Narrative section of that police report brought out my inner 16 year old. I was totally giggling while reading that.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

    Skillz?

  • The_Real_Shamrock

What is this “before you comment” that you speak of? ;o)

  • JHop

Well for someone making $1.5 million per year, half an hour of his time is probably worth more than $100

  • Harv 21

    Maybe you were referencing this?

” …can be fooled by pump fakes and play action.”

Ok, I’m outta this middle school locker room before we Benjamin Button any more.

  • Harv 21

    - “But Pork’s not an athlete, why does he care about some periodic redistribution of NFL wealth, often within the same types of neighborhoods from which the athletes came?”

    - “Shhh. He’s on a roll.”

  • deesh

beachwood, orange, and shaker heights cops don’t have anything to do. ever.

Home life won’t get messed up if you ask your wife to do whatever Ms. $100 was supposed to do….

  • Volitionspark

All of their names are a variation on the noun STUPID…..

  • Volitionspark

Wow. You bothered to find it….lol

  • Volitionspark

deesh: ….therefore don’t do ish like this so that cops with nothing to do won’t bother you…..

Trash seeks trash. Hope to hear his divorce news soon. That should be funny, too.

  • volitionspark

They will both pay. With money. Bad publicity. Private karma issues that we won’t ever hear about. Wrong is wrong and deserves what it gets.

  • Volitionspark

Vindictive_Pat: You assume that he can talk. Even bimbos require someone who can chat them up sexy or compliment them. Can’t do that when you are a Cro-Magnon.

  • Harv 21

you kidding? They made a co-worker dress up and play hooker and got to meet a Cleveland Brown. Best. Day. Ever.

  • humboldt

    He seems sufficiently unsophisticated

  • humboldt

F*** you, go write memos to the Buffalo front office

  • Kildawg

Who uses Craig’s List to find an escort? I hear backpage is better with fewer cops and fake people.

  • Vindictive_Pat

This particular article seems to have really struck a chord with you, would you agree?

  • Jimsit

When will this Puritanical culture of ours stop spending tax payers money on crap like these prostutution stings.

It will never go away, but your dollars and mine will evaporate quickly, as law enforcement spends it’s considerable
Resources on such activities, ignoring violent crime, home invasions, murders and other atrocities.
