Chris Perez: “I want to minimize any potential off-the-field distraction”
May 21, 2013While We’re Waiting… Lotto champions!
May 22, 2013The Cleveland Cavaliers will select first in the upcoming NBA Draft. The Cavaliers had a 15.6 percent chance of winning the top spot, and have now won the lottery for the second time in the last three years.
Before the lottery results were revealed, Cavs representative Nick Gilbert stated that this would be the team’s final visit to the lottery and that a playoff push was in the immediate future. Cleveland general manager Chris Grant is widely considered to be coveting an upgrade to either the small forward or center positions, but has gone on record to say that they are going to take the best player available (per their draft board) rather than reaching for need.
Kentucky center Nerlens Noel is forecasted to be the first player off of the board in many mock drafts. “It’s a great organization and I’m really looking forward to the possibility of playing in Cleveland,” said Noel following the lottery.
The 2013 NBA Draft will be held on June 27 in New York City.

Question, is Waiters>Mclemore?
I hope he is, so we can cross off one potential draftee, but B Mac is so darn athletic, and Waiters just screams out of shape every time I see him. But I hope I’m wrong. I hope Waiters is more clutch and athletic than I think and that his abilities squash any thoughts of us drafting Mclemore or trading Dion.
Get New Orleans on the phone and trade them all of our picks this year for Anthony Davis. Go get the ‘brow!
No but seriously, even though I would rather see Grant & Company take a talented wing over Nerlens Noel, if that is the pick I won’t tear my hair out and burn my Cavs shirts. I’m definitely interested to see who really is the #1 guy on the Cavs’ board, though. Maybe it’s Noel. Maybe it’s Porter, McLemore, or Oladipo. Maybe it’s somebody who Chad Ford thinks is the 10th best player. I’m intrigued.
Unseld?
^ Gets it.
Problem is that Noel can’t play center right away… way too skinny. He would have to play PF for a couple years… hopefully with Zeller on the second unit meaning that Andy doesn’t get injured, but that seems like a pipe dream. For reference, Noel is the same height as the Bucks’ John Henson. Henson is actually 10 lbs heavier, and you wouldn’t dare put that guy at center unless the other team goes small.
I dunno, a halftime performance of Thrift Shop would be fun for a couple of games before it gets old (is it already old?)
Street cred saved.. barely.
Haha. Maybe a Wes Unseld jersey.
What is Wes’s last name? If it’s “Uncle Drew,” is it also “Uncle Wes?”
Nike must be offering the Wolves a lot of free sneakers to consider it.
Ahhh, I’m with you now… didn’t pick up on that. Continuing on that thought, aren’t they due to put out another commercial with a new member of Uncle Drew’s team? At the end of the one with Kevin Love they ask the question who will join next? I think it’s about time they answer that question.
Nerlens Noel reminds me alot of Tyrus Thomas
I have been comparing him to a young Chris Andersen, but I am also liking a John Henson comparison… just take away the 10 foot jumper and add about .5 blocks per game to convert Henson to Noel. (ducking)
It’s already old.
I hope it’s a SF whoever it is!
