MLB Rumor: John McDonald returning to the Indians?
June 10, 2013Video: EA Sports’ NBA LIVE 14 Trailer featuring Kyrie Irving, Cavs
June 10, 2013I’ve done some gift guides in the past. Some have said they help. If you are a dad and like the suggestions within, try leaving the page up on the computer at home, or post it to your facebook wall. You know, something that drops a not so subtle hint…
Ahhh Father’s Day. This will be my eighth as a dad. Add to that total all the years spent looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift for my old man and I think I may qualify as an expert.
Let’s start with gear. Fans love representing their team. They love it even more if the gear is useful and high quality. Does the dad on your list listen to music or perhaps love Tom Hamilton’s call of the game while mowing or doing other things around the house? Check out these Tribe headphones from BiGR Audio. They have a great look to them with beach wood audio earcups. Noise cancelling 40mm drivers. They also come with a great bamboo box for storage. These retail for $99, but WFNY readers can use the coupon code DAD25 and get 25% off.
Not into music? That’s fine. How about a new shirt from GV Art and Design? Of course, we’d be flattered if you got him something from the WFNY line of shirts, but there are so many great other ones to choose from.
My favorite of the newest shirts from GV Art is the Totem Pole design. Indian Summer and the Municipal Stadium Chair are great ones as well. Of course you can’t go wrong with the Superman inspired shirts either. They have plenty to choose from including great Browns and Cavaliers themed stuff.
Is the dad on your list into cornhole? You have to check out the great quality work by Kyle at Big Time Game Boards. We have a set of custom made WFNY boards and they are incredible. Top of the line quality boards that clasp together to store. These aren’t flimsy things that are going to fall apart on you, and the bags are durable as well. Couldn’t have a higher opinion of his work.
While gear makes a great gift, sometimes an experience is way better.
On Father’s Day, the Indians are offering a chance to play catch with dad on the grass at Progressive Field following the game with the Nationals. The tickets for the Play Catch event are $15 with all proceeds benefiting Cleveland Indians Charities. I had the opportunity to play catch with my family in the outfield last year, and I promise that is an experience I won’t soon forget.
Saturday, the Indians host the Nationals and it is Jason Kipnis replica jersey night, plus fireworks. Use WFNY Tickets and our partners at Tiq IQ to beat the box office price.
Has your Buckeye fan never been to the Shoe for a game? The September 21st game against Florida A&M is the cheapest game available right now. Do it up right and book a hotel room for the evening. Let him enjoy all the events around the stadium on gameday.
How about a road trip for a Browns away game? The Browns go to some great locations this season. October 20th in Green Bay sounds like a great opportunity to see a classic stadium while cheering on the Browns. They also go to Kansas City, New England, Minnesota and New York in addition to the traditional Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati games.
What about a road trip to see the Indians? Stay overnight and catch two games. They are in Baltimore and Chicago at the end of the month. I would highly recommend a Chicago trip. It’s close enough to drive in a day, and there are just so many great things to see and do once you’re there.
I promise you can’t go wrong with anything here. It beats the tie any day.

Oooh…think I might have to talk the wife into getting the family our first Corn-Hole set. Now…to hard choice of Browns vs Buckeyes. Since it’s custom…I wonder if they’d do a “half and half” set up. One half is Browns, the other half is Buckeyes. Then I can have the best of both worlds!
that’s easy. you buy 2 sets, break them up, and give 1 of the combo-sets to your dad 🙂
Dad already has a great set actually. Was a father’s day gift about 3 years ago.
I’m sure Kyle can hook you up with something incredible.
I know the rules say that all the bags of a given team must be the same color…but I’m not as interested in that particular aspect…since I wont’ be using my set for “official tournaments” anyways.
