Browns Inactives For Colts Preseason Game

The Browns released the list of players who will miss tonight’s third preseason game of the year against the Colts in Indianapolis. They include kicker Brandon Bogotay, wide receiver Davone Bess, cornerback Chris Owens, linebacker Jabaal Sheard, defensive end Desmond Bryant, and cornerback Trevin Wade.

The four new starters for tonight are cornerback Buster Skrine, linebacker Quentin Groves, right guard Oniel Cousins, and defensive end Billy Winn. With Barkevious Mingo still out with his bruised lung, Groves starts opposite Paul Kruger at outside linebacker. Seventh round pick Garrett Gilkey will also get plenty of snaps at right guard with both Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston likely to miss the next couple of weeks, and the Browns have plenty of depth backing up Winn on the defensive line.

Bogotay is currently in a competition with veteran Shayne Graham for the kicker position. Owens has the lead over both Buster Skrine and rookie Leon McFadden for the starting corner spot opposite Joe Haden.

Someone tell me why Owens has the leg up on the #2 CB spot? He hasn’t played all preseason. He isn’t exactly a proven shutdown corner.
