First off- DENNY– Media, PA is just minutes away from where I live, dude!
Next up, the Bronies phenomena is rampant in the comic communities I frequent, and being that I exhibit my own comics at comic cons on the east coast, I see bronies in costume all the time. (No, I’m not doing the Bronie-specific con, but I WILL be at the Baltimore Comic Con in early Sept) I don’t personally care for the tv show, but since it’s talked about a lot, I now know about all the geek references and adult humor thrown in that would go over kids heads- making it fun for some adults to watch too. I even did a comic storyline on it (so I had to do my research and watched a couple episodes– it’s a well-done show with lots of character variety, but like I said, not my thing. Give me Thundercats, man.

Sorta related, I HAVE done an anime convention before.. and man, THOSE fans LOVE to cosplay (dress in costume). I’d say it was 60/40 in terms of attendees who dressed up, where as regular comic cons maybe are 30/70. Definitely a new cult art form, lot of appreciation for the really well-done costumes though I probably wouldn’t do it.

Yeah, my mom is from Media, and getting to run through the town was pretty great. It’s funny getting older and seeing places that you know in a different light—I’ve had that happen at both of my grandparents’ homes in recent years—so I really enjoyed running two laps around Media.
As I said in the eppo, I’m trying to be OK with the Brony thing, try as I might. But it’s odd. Hope you enjoy the show.
