The Importance of Trent Richardson – Cleveland Browns Round Table
September 3, 2013Among the Ruins: The Indians’ Collapse and Looking Forward
September 3, 2013Located deep in the bowels of The Ohio State University’s new basketball practice facility is a locker for Akron, Ohio native LeBron James. James, who has long been an advocate of Ohio State basketball, will reportedly simply be used for namesake when recruits visit. The locker will display jerseys as the Buckeyes are already outfitted with the reigning MVP’s Nike-branded gear.
Per The Plain Dealer’s Doug Lesmerises, Buckeyes coach That Matta said that James would “have to earn his stripes” before he could contribute to the men’s team.

Makes absolutely no sense. Makes the program look moronic if anything.
Maybe LBJ will take a break from the NBA to go back to college and Matta in his forward thinking is just preparing.
But seriously, why?
if it helps get 1 recruit, then it makes sense. have to use every resource possible to convince kids these days. if LBJ is willing to be used, then Matta would be a fool to not use him.
He didn’t even go to the school. Sorry but I have to agree this is a dumb tactic, why not advertise players that are actually alums of the program?
When recruits come in, they put their names above a locker, next to the likes of Aaron Craft and Deshaun Thomas. There are still some empty lockers though, so they’ll put up names like Lebron just to give that “WOW” factor. It may be a moronic, stupid, idiotic thing to do, but seeing as every high school recruit wants to “Be Like LeBron”, I’d say it works pretty well. Remember wanting to Be Like Mike? Its the same concept.
Hey maybe this is part of that sitcom James is working on!
Does he still have college elligibility if he sits out a year?
No clue dawg,
If LBJ wanted to go to college so badly, then he should have. This is a joke.
50 yr old playing college ball
I agree with those who think it’s moronic. But it shows how different our thinking is from those charged with making oodles for the university through “amateur” athletics.
The most outrageous thing I saw this year a prominent art piece in Oregon’s new football facility showing soaring ducks, each representing … players drafted by the NFL. To commission that expensive work, presumably an expenditure and idea approved by the university’s Board of Trustees/Phil Knight … wow, just wow.
I hate to say it, but Evan Turner and Michael Redd aren’t bringing in any recruits.
Maybe Antonetti can put Albert Pujols’ name on a locker in the Tribe clubhouse.
Fart.
If you mean flop and whine to refs when the game is on the line, I agree.
In his triumphant final act, LeBron wins back to back national titles at 50. He then asks the state of Ohio if it is finally happy.
Umm… The Locker Room is called “The Michael Redd Locker Room”
