September 6, 2013First round draft pick Barkevious Mingo will have to wait at least one more week before making his NFL regular season debut. The 6’4″ linebacker from LSU has been limited in practice all week with the bruised lung he suffered in the first half of the second preseason game against the Lions.
Mingo was able to return to practice this week during individual drills, but has been kept out of contact events at practice. Head coach Rob Chudzinski told media today that Mingo will not play on Sunday, and his status for week two in Baltimore has not yet been determined.
Barkevious said that he feels fine, but is listening to his doctors and will get back to contact when they tell him he is cleared.
The Browns open the season at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
