Animated: Brandon Weeden’s embarrassing shovel pass

In case you missed it (consider yourself lucky,) and want to see it (consider yourself a glutton for punishment,) here is the pass that pretty much sealed the Browns’ loss to the Detroit Lions today.

Weeden's Bad Pass

I fully expect to to see this on deadspin by the end of the day.

    Thanks for that, Weeds!

  • dan

I remember Bubby Brister tossing a shovel pass straight into Sam Mills’ hands. That was the worst interception I’ve ever seen. This has to be #2.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

    Brian Hoyer you are missed!

  • BuckeyeDawg

Sure to be nominated for the Trojan-ENZ “Boner of the Week” award…

  • Wow

    LOL

  • Wow

So frustrating. He was sacked like 100 times, what’s one more? Or throw it out of bounds..

  • Kildawg

Assuming Jacksonville drafts Bridgewater, who do the Browns draft with their assumed Top 10 pick with Weeden still the starting QB? Boyd? The guy from FSU? One of those SEC QBs?

  • ch

That’s the way the game was going… I think everyone saw something like this coming.
You’ll notice Weeden gets foot tackled light years after he lets the ball go, but Groves gets flagged for hitting baby Stafford legit.

  • exit322

Weeden’s helmet wasn’t touched by the other guy’s helmet. Though we all hate the rule, it was probably the easiest flag they threw all day.

  • C-Bus Kevin

Disagree. If anything, the helmet contact was incidental after the initial contact.

  • LaundroMat

Don’t forget that Tampa Bay will take their QB before us, too.

  • exit322

It doesn’t matter in the calling of the rule. If they touch in that situation, it’s 15, whether incidental or not.

  • Brendon Yarian

What about the play where Weeden was almost decapitated by Suh? No flag on that?

  • Bob

    Manziel or Hundley?

  • EJMaroun

“The guy from FSU?” As in Jameis Winston? He’s a freshman

  • mgbode

Bridgewater, Hundley, Mariotta (amazing game this weekend)

Boyd has been lackluster this season (I loved him last year). He has dropped into the Mettenberger, Murray, Manziel, Price, Carr tier of QBs for me.

    Morris, McCarron, Fales after them.

Winston isn’t eligible for this draft.

  • Wow

The NFL really needs to address Suh. He’s been playing dirty for years.

  • fattymcelbows

Depends on if Schiano is fired. As likely as that may seem now, the fact that the Glazers haven’t fired him yet . . .

  • @TheDeePagel

I loved the FOX announcer’s take (I don’t remember their names)….”It’s not dirty, he just doesn’t know his own strength…”

That comment was the “Weeden Pass” of all NFL announcing comments yesterday.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

Sounds like an RG3-esque dilemma all over again. Ugh, I simply cannot wait!

  • The_Real_Shamrock

Nobody is separating themselves which for me is a problem of course Cleveland won’t be selecting before other teams who need a QB anyway (as of today) so that kind of evens things out.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

Those were some of the worst announcers I’ve heard. I didn’t catch the names but they almost sounded like Detroit Lions press. That and calling players by their first name repeatedly irritated me.

Btw Pagel you should know you’ve fallen in “$hamrock’s List of Death 4 WFNY” which is good. Unlike the BCS rankings you want to be lower in this poll. The idea of a list recipient finding a Kool-Aid packet in the mail, on their windshield, in their real estate office was priceless.

  • @TheDeePagel

Wow….I’m honored. I hope this doesn’t mean less bickering and childish posts back and forth between us. It brings out the best and worst of me all at once, and is semi-therapeutic.

  • The_Real_Shamrock

None of my posts are childish thank you very much.

Super Mariota, if he falls to you… WhoDey :D
