October 21, 2013Should the Browns cut bait on the Brandon Weeden Experience? A WFNY Roundtable
October 21, 2013Head coach Rob Chudzinski said during his Monday press conference that the coaching staff will look at “all positions.
“I’ll stick with our process we’ve had throughout.” said Chudzinski. “It’s about evaluating the last game and we’ll talk as a staff later on this afternoon and we’ll basically put the guys at all positions who will give us the best opportunity to win.”
The coach was then asked if that meant he was considering a change at quarterback.
“Yea, at all positions we’re considering that.”
Following last week’s loss to the Lions, the coach said Monday morning that Weeden was still the guy and that he would be the starter. There was no such guarantee this week.
Brandon Weeden was 17 of 42 for 149 yards, a touchdown and an interception in yesterday’s game against the Packers. His QB rating for the game was 48.6, and is 66.5 for the season. Jason Campbell has appeared in just one game this season, throwing four passes with one completion.

Not only did Weeden not improve this year, he didn’t even stay the same. He’s worse than ever. Very strange.
Cool, throw Campbell (or the new guy) in to play the Dominant Chiefs in their home. That’s quite a stacked deck there.
(Still Better than anything Weeden can do)
Whoever we send in there has AT LEAST a 65% chance of significant injury.
LOL
The timing of these QB changes are always dubious but honestly it won’t make much of a difference based on the options.
Maybe Norv’s offense is to complex for him.
Brandon Weeden is awful.
I don’t think Campbell is very good. But could he really be worse than Weeden?
What is Charlie Frye doing now-a-days?
Also, interesting to note. Jamarcus Russell……still out there. That is what this has come to – for me at least.
not strange to me – he’s already on the downside of his athletic potential. He’s 44 years old, remember.
Just appears to have a low football IQ. NFL quarterbacking is more nuanced than having all day to chuck to wide open Justin Blackmon and Kendall Hunter. And that appears to be his ceiling. He’d be a helluva 7 on 7 player.
Let’s see what we have in this Marqueis Gray. That could be fun for like, three plays
I wouldn’t put too much stock in this. I would bet more on Chud coming back at the next chance to comment and saying someithing along the lines of, “We evaluated the QB position (like we do every week?) and Weedon gives us the best chance to win.” Then out trots Weedon and so it goes for the rest of the season.
I’ll also be evaluating his evaluation to determine my plans for Sunday…
Don’t worry guys! Norv is working his magic with Weeden
Maybe someone should sit down and explain to Weeden that GROUND BALL is an INCOMPLETE PASS in the NFL.
I can take a horrible QB for a year. What I can’t take is a horrible QB who makes excuses after excuses for his horrible play. How about you say, ‘I sucked, I left our defense and our receivers high and dry and I have to improve.’
Just like that, I can respect that.
you obviously didn’t watch the Bengals vs. Lions game yesterday. All Dalton & Stafford did was chuck it up to AJ & Calvin. Doesn’t matter the coverage, they just come down with it.
Honestly, might have been better just attempting that with Gordon & Little than what actually happened yesterday. Worst case, we use Weeden’s arm strength as the punt we were destined into anyway.
Winners: Cleveland Sportstalk – they get another year of QB-controversy!!!
(oops, wrong thread)
Bring in Chris Weinke for a workout, at least he won the Heisman
Good news, everyone!
