The Cleveland Browns have signed wide receiver Josh Cooper from their practice squad. Cooper will replaced wide receiver Armanti Edwards, who was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury Wednesday.
Cooper was waived on September 30 after appearing in just one game and failing to record a reception. He is of the slot receiver mold and is reportedly close friends with Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden. In 2012, Cooper caught eight passes for 106 yards, averaging 13.3 yards per reception.
Edwards was added to the Browns’ roster on October 29. The former third-round pick, and Carolina Panthers’ developmental project, ends up with one catch for 10 yards and four punt returns for 28 yards on the season. Edwards now has a total of six receptions in his four-year career.
