Browns clean house again! – Scott Raab discusses – WFNY Podcast – 2014-02-12
February 12, 2014Browns new front office needs something different to set them apart from past
February 12, 2014The NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports this morning that the Browns are working to sign Pro-Bowl cornerback Joe Haden to a long-term contract. Haden’s current deal, which is set to pay him $6,678,193, would make him a free agent following the 2014 season.
Per source, the Browns have been negotiating a long-term deal with star CB Joe Haden, and the team was in touch with his people yesterday.

Sounds like everything remains positive there, and re-signing Haden will continue to be a top priority for the Browns thru the transition.

Signing Haden before free agency begins would be a great look for the new, “streamlined” front office. On Tuesday, in response to the shakeup in the front office, Haden took to twitter to say that he was only in the business of covering receivers and that he would be “staying in his lane.”
Control what u can control! The nfl is a business! My part is 2 cover people! #StayInUrLane!

Breer also mentions that there is still a chance that the Browns use the franchise tag on either center Alex Mack or safety TJ Ward, both of whom are coming off of Pro Bowl seasons.

I’d say it was obvious, but we didn’t extend Mack or Ward last offseason. Positive direction.
I will also assume that this is something Banner was not in favor of. I hope the door hits him 3 or 4 times on his way out.
I sent Joe some tweet love yesterday, letting him know that the fans are very much on board with all of this and we really want him to say. Cant hurt, right?
I suspect Farmer will rectify the situation with Mack and Ward.
Best news this off-season
The first time I read this, I took it to mean you sent Joe Banner some tweets that we are all on board with his firing, and used “love” and “we really want him to stay” sarcastically. You cruel, beautiful SOB.
But then the second paragraph turned out to be about Haden.
Next: Back up a dump truck full of money on Richard Sherman’s driveway.
I’d love to see it happen, but I think the most likely scenario is that Mack gets extended and Ward gets franchised.
that is the ideal situation (if we cannot extend both), but it’s going to be hard to extend Mack as he is reportedly still going to test FA.
He’s got one year left on his rookie contract.
But, yeah…I’ll drive that baby to Seattle,
I like your idea better.
