The NFL Draft is (not so quickly) approaching, and today we decided to see where everyone’s head is currently at with respect to the Browns’ draft possibilities. Check out the conversation below:

    Shades of Brady Quinn….

I’ll preface this by saying that I am really silly. A couple silly points:

    1) Do not trade up. Not for anyone.
    2) I don’t care who they take at four, per se. But I would actually be happy as long as two of their first three picks are QBs. 1st and 3rd…2nd and 3rd….1st and 2nd…I don’t care. Of those I prefer 1st and 3rd, but we need a QB and that issue should be beaten to death.
    3) I only make the 1st pick a QB if it is the best QB in the draft and there is at least a 50% chance he is the starter 3 years from now.
    4) Trading down is fine, and I think I’d prefer to see that than for them to draft Clowney. He may be great, but we have D linemen galore.

My top target would be Mack or Watkins w/ No. 4. I can’t think of an elite D that doesn’t have a “face-of-the-franchise” linebacker, and the thought of two elite receivers will help either Hoyer or next year’s first rounder, assuming the QB we draft later doesn’t pan out. That seems to happen a lot.

Does anyone remember how the Bears were pretty so-so on offense until Alshon Jeffery exploded? All the sudden, the Bears were a juggernaut offense putting up 50 points a game… ya know why? They all of the sudden had 2 superstar WR’s. Having two guys like that is a freakishly amazing thing (ala Boldin and Fitzgerald back in the day). They even made a dude named MCCOWN look good. SAMMY!!!…. WATKINS!!!!…..SAMMY!!!….WATKINS!!!!

And the last great WR we let slip away from us was Julio Jones. How did that work out?
