In the 2014 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns should consolidate picks

April 1, 2014The 2014 Fan Cost Index was officially released and the Cleveland Indians are, once again, among the best values in all of baseball, coming in third-lowest with an averge cost of $162.24.
The annual Fan Cost Index, as run by TeamMarketing.com, compiles the average cost of four tickets, small sodas, two hats, small beers, programs and parking. The average in Major League Baseball comes in this year at $214.46, a 2.3 percent increase over last season. The Indians’ mark of $162.24 represents a mere 0.3 percent increase over the 2013 season, one which saw the team win 90-plus games and make the postseason for the first time since 2007.
While the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks continue to be below the Indians in average cost, the Tribe continues to be well below the game’s average in ticket price ($21.31 vs. $27.93) as well as average premium ticket price1 ($54.33 vs. $93.41). The cost of a beer in Progressive Field is over $2.00 less (33 percent) than the average stadium brew and parking is roughly $3 less (20 percent) per automobile.
Last season, the Indians were among the league’s worst in attendance, with many fans pointing to dynamic ticketing policies as a point of contention. While this policy will not be going away any time soon, the team has added additional values this season, including “Carnegie Tickets” as well as Kids Value passes.
The Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies top the list as most expensive. The Detroit Tigers find themselves among the top 10 while the Twins, White Sox and Royals fill in between the AL Central’s most expensive and it’s best value.

I don’t quite get why they have two hats as part of the cost, but, then again, I don’t have kids. I assume buying hats at a baseball game is something that would make more sense if I did.
Are these four tickets purchased months in advance or the day of? I get dynamic pricing but I also understand why some don’t like it.
if you only go once and are at a new ballpark, then yes, I have always bought my kids hats at the game. they are just more special that way (and MLB parks for whatever reason tend to not price gauge on that item).
My kids now have Rangers, Astros, and, of course, Indians hats. Looking forward to adding to their collection as the years go by (gotta admit, it’s tougher to do when you live west of the ole Mississippi).
Season ticket price, which is probably not the best measure for a family of four thinking about taking in a game. But I’d guess that figuring out the cost after dynamic pricing is a lot more trouble than it’s worth. And, as season ticket prices are the lowest offered by all teams, it’s probably good enough, at least for government work.
I think it’s just a way to represent the purchase of souvenirs. I imagine that these (sold in league-branded team shops) are relatively negligible.
at least some MLB teams have “kid tickets” that include the hat, so I do wonder if they get credit for the hat on those tickets in the above study or if it is added to the overall cost. interesting at least.
The good news is, the Tribe tied for cheapest beer in the league at $4 a glass. Here’s to bringing back ten cent beer night.
Actually if you read the fine print you’ll notice that Arizona is charging the same price for two more ounces.
Well played Snakes. Well played.
best thing involving snakes since:

I think catching a game at Kaufman Stadium in KC would be a fun roadtrip. Beautiful stadium, especially with the waterfall in center; especially considering that it was built in the 70s.
I think it would be $1 beer night, to compensate for inflation.
So much for that “Dolanz R Cheep” saying. Given that the Indians are the best value east of the Mississippi and people still won’t come to games. They’d rather complain about ownership not be willing to spend when they aren’t willing to spend themselves. I’m sure ownership would have spent more if average attendance is up to at least, say, 25-30K as opposed to (what was it last year? 18-20K?). If the fans don’t want ownership to be cheap then they shouldn’t be cheap either.
one of the places I haven’t been yet. definitely need to stop there on a road trip back to Ohio one of these years.
I haven’t been there either, but I have been to Petco in San Diego, as well as GABP in Cincitucky and of course the Jake. Video games have very realistic graphics anymore.
I’m at 21 MLB ballparks right now. Been stuck on that number for quite a few years though. I love Petco and think the warehouse being built into it is a nice touch as is the teeball field beyond LF for the kids.
