2014 NFL Draft: Browns select OT Joel Bitonio with their second round pick
May 9, 2014Video: Browns running back draft pick Terrance West runs and runs and runs
May 10, 2014The Browns news went wild yesterday with speculation about Josh Gordon and pretty well overshadowed the Browns’ draft. Despite that news, the Browns appeared poised to carry out their plan without panicking and grabbing a receiver.
First, the Browns picked linebacker Christian Kirksey from Iowa. While Kirksey is considered to be undersized at 6’2″ and 233 pounds. Considered to be a good overall athlete though, Kirksey could be a really positive addition to Browns special teams right away.
Next, the Browns traded back into round three to select running back Terrance West. West is a compact, bulky running back that has done nothing but run and run and run in college. He went to Towson and in 2013 he carried the ball 413 times for over 2500 yards. Obviously his accomplishments were pretty dominant against lesser competition, but the thought is that his vision, decisiveness and speed could make him the next Alfred Morris for Kyle Shanahan. Of course, he’ll have to find the field past Ben Tate.
And so the Browns head into the final day of the draft with a fourth round pick (number 127) and the third pick in the seventh round (number 218.) We’ll see if the team decides to try and make a few last ditch efforts to bring in some wide receivers considering the Josh Gordon situation.

going on record that i can’t tackle terrance west.
Looks like we’re going to run the ball this season.
A lot.
Get your popcorn
I don’t think that taking a receiver equates to panicking.
I think Kirksey could actually start (and that’s because of how poor Robertson is). As for WRs, there’s always the madness of UDFAs.
Anyone think we shoulda made a play for Steve Johnson?
Looks like there’s a lot of people that can’t. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3P8AiFO5CU
finally a highlight soundtrack i don’t have to mute!
$hamrock mentioned this yesterday and I would have seriously considered it. I heard basically the same kind of refutiation as I did back when Buffalo was entertaining thoughts of trading a RB named Marshawn Lynch or when a certain WR who won a SB with Baltimore was a free agent in Arizona who was named Anquan Boldin. Now I’m not saying Johnson is/was on the same level as these two but it’s not like he wouldn’t have helped what looks to once again be a sub par unit in WRs. Gordon facing a years suspension and Burleson who breaks the same arm for a second time OFF the field. All of a sudden a group of Hawkins, Little, Benjamin and Cameron isn’t exactly thrilling.
DAMN U KUSH GORDON, DAMN U!!!!
Was with you on marshawn and boldin, much less with stevie but he is better than we have
Unlike Lynch and Boldin Shamrock’s choice of Johnson was solely due to Kush Gordon looking like a complete moron. Perhaps Kush will somehow be vindicated but even if he’s not it reminds those of us who were worried about his precarious situation.
In any event I’m trying not to let Kush’s problem ruin what appears to be a great draft. They just added another CB to help the secondary. One more pick left I’ll be shocked if it’s a WR but who knows.
our head coach saw him every day last couple years and we didnt go after him. says everything.
perfect. Retire now, RGB, and you’ll be the Jim Brown of gifs
Notice the ground-hugging stride. Notice the non-slippage on those slippery, snowy turfs. See ya in December, Mr. West. And remember: the fan favs are still wearing short sleeves.
