White Sox 3, Indians 2: Lack of “O,” poor “D,” ruin House’s “A” performance

May 29, 2014Could the Cavs be looking to add a guy who spent years being a thorn in their side? Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue will reportedly interview with the Cavaliers on Thursday, according to Yahoo! Sports, with hopes of becoming their next head coach.
Lue, 37, has been on Doc Rivers’ staff for five years, including four in Boston. A former point guard, he played 11 seasons in the league with the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington, Orlando, Houston, Atlanta, Dallas and Milwaukee.
It seems like just yesterday that Lue would do his best impression of Magic Johnson every time he laced up against the Cavs, with an overtime win in 2006 being one small notch in the veteran’s Cav-killing belt. Lue has since lost the cornrows and has also seen his name mentioned with the current opening with the New York Knicks.
Cleveland is turning to NBA assistant coaches and former head coaches after having “closedly examined the college ranks,” according to Yahoo. The Cavaliers also reportedly have interviews coming up with Vinny Del Negro and Alvin Gentry.

is that Danny Ferry on the right?
Anderson Varejao: player-coach
CBA prevents it or Dan would be throwing $100 million at “you know who” to return and do it.
Yeah… but what does LeBron think?

Wait, really? CBA doesn’t allow this anymore?
Coach B. Free then?
No, they dumped it due to salary cap.
If you allowed a player-coach you could get away with paying LeBron $100 million or whatever amount as the “player-coach” to circumvent the cap/luxury tax etc.
But in theory if they just had their NBA contract could they “coach” for free (and be officially the head coach)?
Sure, but who wants to do something for free?
In the end though it’s against the CBA.
Good find, Mgbode. Now I have a better idea of Lue’s character, and I like what I see. Now the question is what is his coaching philosophy? What will he bring to the table on the offensive side and defensive side of the ball that will help the Cavs win championships?
valid questions, but no idea how to answer them other than to say he has learned from Doc Rivers and has been earmarked for an eventual HC since he retired from basketball (so coaches have appreciated his understanding of the game).
So, my $1.5bil estimate on the clips was $500mil short. Gotta be nice to own a big market team
