Browns sign Jim Leonhard
July 30, 2014Indians 2; Mariners 0: Kluber’s “Maddux” bests King Felix in a performance for the ages
July 31, 2014Since the return of LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been talking to the Minnesota Timberwolves about Kevin Love. The Cavs have been in discussion to land Kevin Love to pair with James and Kyrie Irving. Over the past several weeks, there have been talk of the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors engaging in the trade talk for Kevin Love. But, ESPN is reporting that the Cavs are now the only team talking trade with Minnesota. The report says it is a matter of when the trade will happen rather than if. The package would be centered around the 2014 number one pick Andrew Wiggins. The Wolves are said to be interested in Wiggins the most among all other players the three teams could offer. That includes Klay Thompson who the Warriors have still not offered the Timberwolves.
The trade can not be made until 30 days after the date Andrew Wiggins signed his rookie contract, which happened last Thursday, July 24. This time table could give other teams time to sweeten their deal for Kevin Love. But even with this delay, Minnesota seems to be centered on getting Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins appeals to them not just because of his huge upside, but also his friendly rookie deal. They can control him for longer and at a much cheaper price then they could with Klay Thompson. The report says the framework seems to be Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and a first round pick. But, the question still remains about what the Cavs will send along with this framework in the package for Kevin Love. ESPN states that this part of the deal is still evolving and could change from now until the 30-day delay is over. The trade could involve a third team and could also involve other players from the Timberwolves including J.J. Barea. The trade discussions are still ongoing, but it seems more likely then ever that the Cavs will end up getting Kevin Love.
ESPN sources say Wolves currently only in talks w/Cavs on Love deal; Bulls essentially moving on and GSW still not giving up Klay Thompson

3 weeks and 2 days before this trade for K-Love can become official. Brutal!
Follow on the Love-O-Meter…

Sounds like the cheese stands alone only because we threw Wiggins in the kitty. Too bad there’s no take-backs. But Windy thinks it’s Wiggins, Bennett and one #1 pick, and that right now Love intends to stay in CLE. I’ll take it, I guess, but just can’t help but think substituting Dion for Wiggins in the trade would make the ball sharing so much easier.
access some second-hand smoke. Time will fly.
“but can’y help but think substituting Dion for Wiggins would make the ball sharing so much easier.”
Not to mention the defense.
And thanks, now I can’t get The Farmer in the Dell outta my head…
why you’d want that outta your head is anyone’s guess.
I like it… getting some excellent advice to pass the time. Thanks fellas.
I still don’t think Wiggins is involved in the deal. Doesn’t make sense to me.
Which team is better, 2010 Miami Heat (LBJ, Wade, Bosh) or 2014 Cleveland Cavs (LBJ, Love, Irving)?
Minn and ESPN are getting more desperate by the day.
Griffin isn’t about to cough up Wiggins.
And with no other competition, he won’t have to.

If the Cavs had to take back Barea in the deal, I’d want him playing backup PG, move Delly in as the Sefolosha-like defensive starter at SG, and keep Waiters coming off the bench as the 6th man. That’s how I wants it.
I’m at peace with losing Wiggins. I’d much rather ship out Tristan instead of Bennett. I think we’ve seen his ceiling and it isn’t impressive.
Me too, but wouldn’t happen so long as Rich Paul is his agent. Shame.
think he already coughed up the wunderkind, friend. If you believe the ESPN report that Chicago dropped out, no reason not to believe why.
I think comparing those three players, LeBron has gotten a little better, 2010 Wade is better than 2014 Kyrie, but 2014 Love is better than 2010 Bosh so it’s close. I think 2014 Cavs could have better depth tho. It’s close.
Chicago can be removed from the equation with a creative 3 team trade. (Some very feasible ones were discussed in a thread yesterday.)
Just because it hasn’t fallen from the golden lips of the Four Letter, doesn’t mean Griffin isn’t working on it.
I thought that too, but I read something somewhere that brought up a great point (Amico maybe?), that playing behind Love here wouldn’t be as beneficial for Tristan as would starting in Minny. He’s in a contract year so logging some starter minutes before negotiating would be a good thing for him and his agent.
Not so sure. Rich Paul wants to build a client base, and the way the Cavs payroll is stacking up Thompson might be able to get more elsewhere, which might be in Paul’s better interest. Otherwise, I’m totally with Clown. I liked Tristan, but suspect is future is same as it ever was.
were that but true. Every writer and blogger seem to report that Minny wants Wiggins, period.
I agree with you. If Love has told interested parties that he’ll only sign with the Cavs and that caused other teams to drop out, why would you need to include your best trade asset? Sam Amico has claimed all along that Wiggins isn’t involved and I believe that when you look at the situation as a whole.
Don’t think that’s what Amico says. Think he says he hasn’t confirmed Wiggins is in, not that he’s heard he’s not.
Call me optimistic, but it sure seems like Amico has been the most plugged in of all of the reporters when it comes to Cavs news. The national guys have been a step behind him and poor Jason Lloyd seems to have been thrown out into the cold with Mary Schmitt Boyer, Jody Valarde, and Bob Finnan.
Have a little faith. 🙂
many a writer and blogger also have reported that we have not included Wiggins. such as Sam Amico.
now, we may have. but, it seems a bit strange. if Love has told them he only wants the Cavs (as also has been reported), then Minny lost whatever little leverage they had.
we shall see, but I find it very perilous to include Wiggins for a player that is not signed past next July.
surprise! you found a way to make Delly a starter 😉
not sure how ’14 Cavs play defense like that ’10 Heat team though
MOAR DELLY!!! 🙂
I’m pretty sure they’d have to log into their accounts on NBA2K14.
Listen: I desperately want them to retain Wiggins. Just don’t think the tea leaves are reading correctly. Minnesota would be sitting on Love longer and hoping to re-ignite a bidding war if their top prize to date was Anthony Bennett and Dion.
Again, and again: hope I’m wrong.
Bingo. Minnesota’s in no hurry because they’re amazingly not trying to tank this season and they can keep Love on their roster until the trade deadline. The Cavs are the team who would like this done sooner rather than later.
If Love refuses to sign a deal, it BETTER be Dion/Bennett/#1s. I only give up Wiggins if Love signs – and if the Cavs are the last team standing, they’ve got the leverage.
Also, didn’t that ’10 team lose to the Mavericks?
It’s possible that the Cavs are the only team left standing because Kevin Love announced that he would only extend with the Cavs. It may also be possible that the Cavs are the last team standing because they have already offered Wiggins and CHI/GSW won’t add more to their offers.
Honestly, I don’t believe anything coming from the Worldwide Leader these days. All I see are dramatic storylines being sold as reporting due to anonymous sources being involved. It wouldn’t surprise me to see this narrative turn even further back to the Cavs maybe not even needing to include Wiggins, “other teams” getting involved, and then who knows what will come next.
I’m done caring. It’s win/win anyway.
I would like to know what BW did to upset LRMR though. Sometime during the past few months he must have really upset them because he seemed to go from all-access to cold shoulder.
True – but, as they say about contracts, it’s not a deal until everything’s signed. It’ll be fun to see how it all plays out …
he’s plugged in because Chicago is on the periphery. I think he is good at his job but i just don’t trust him in this siutation. He would like nothing more than to troll Clevelanders.
could be a “once in a lifetime” deal for Tristan if he plays his cards right.
couldn’t resist.
Doesn’t Amico specifically report on the Cavs for FSO? Why would he be trolling – he covers the team?
Are you confusing Amico with Sam Amick?
let’s pretend i didn’t say anything. Glad Disqus did away with those downticks!
my mistake!
I LOVE IT!

Sooooo…
Any JFF updates from camp?
According to Twitter he just finished picking his nose.
With a rolled up $20.
Exactly. There’s no way that Chicago and Golden State are out if the deal is Dion/Bennett/pick.
As my virtual GF often tells me, “Ohhhhhh nooooooooo!”
*Unless Kevin Love has communicated that he won’t sign a long-term deal with either team. (and for the record, I don’t believe he’s done this, but seems like enough of a possibility to mention)
