Details of LeBron’s meeting with Riley emerge
July 9, 2014The King: Cedar Point to rename coaster if LeBron James returns
July 9, 2014In an interview on 92.3 The Fan’s Bull and Fox show, Charles Barkley told Dustin Fox and Anthony Lima that he would be “very disappointed” if LeBron James doesn’t decide to return to Cleveland.
In addition, he said the Miami media is desperate right now by continuously bringing up the letter that Dan Gilbert wrote immediately after LeBron left. He said that the letter, while foolish to write, wouldn’t keep LeBron from coming home.
“He realizes no matter how many championships he wins in Miami they won’t have same effect as if he won them in Cleveland”
None of this should be a surprise, as Barkley has said since the decision four years ago that he was disappointed that LeBron left Cleveland in the first place.
Barkley also said that if the Cavaliers get James, and make a trade for Kevin Love that the Eastern Conference is a wrap. An Irving/James/Love trio would dominate the East.

There’s a lot of times I can’t stand Barkley’s gibberish, but I love that he is and always has been SO pro-Cleveland in this issue. He speaks his mind, for better or worse, and it’s rare when a non-Clevelander (he doesn’t have any Cleveland ties that I know of…?) pushes for us so hard. Sure there are those who are sympathetic towards us, but Barkley probably wants Lebron in Cleveland more than any other unbiased person.
Barkley for mayor!
Next stop: RNC!!!
Sir Charles call up LBJ!
So soon we forget.

Meh, Barkley was notorious for trashing the Cavs when LBJ was here; now that he wants the face turn doesn’t exactly make him a stand up guy.
He’s said even more about Cleveland it is what it is.
He may have trashed the team or LBJ’s teammates (I can’t remember, and I can’t watch the video you linked in your other comment on my work comp), but looking back, was he wrong? (again, don’t know what he said, so maybe he was) But I do know that 4 years ago he said Lebron should stay and for that, he’s ok in my book.
Very true, he was known more for trashing the players/coach as opposed to the city itself.
Just always rubbed me the wrong way.
My recollection is that Barkley consistently asserted that the Cavs weren’t as good as everyone else thought…he turned out to be right.
He’s right. At this rate LBJ will never catch Jordan, but if he brings Cleveland it’s first championship in 50 years, that will go down in history as pretty close.
