Lack of offense ruins feeling potential double dip sweep
August 14, 2014Cleveland Indians Closer Doug Jones – Reliving Yesteryear
August 14, 2014Rex Ryan challenged the Browns to an ALS ice bucket challenge today. He also seemed to be taking a typical, fun Rex Ryan swipe at his former underling Mike Pettine. About a minute in…
“The last challenge is to the Browns. Let the Browns take a page out of our playbook, if you will. Play like a Brown, so to speak.”
Post by New York Jets.
As to why Rex Ryan might have called out Pettine for copying him, see this. “Play like a Jet” has apparently been a Ryan motto for a while.
Jets motto under Rex Ryan has always been "Play Like a Jet." … Curious what #NYJ fans think that means.

Remember that time that the Jets always suck and no Browns fan should bat an eyelash at this? Yeah me too….
I like this teasing. It’s fun. Too many coaches are buttoned-down corporate. It’s football, not rocket surgery.
take a page out of our playbook
Nice. Double zing from both the “Play like a Brown” as well as:

i love that we are relevant enough to be mentioned by another team.
I like this, but someone please explain (because I haven’t been following the origins): how does this actually help defeat ALS? Is there a financial component that comes with the ice challenge? Did the Jets (and will the Browns) actually make a significant donation, or is this just a show?
THE LOWNESS OF ALL BARS!
It’s awareness and an active campaign. I believe it’s topped $5 million nationwide now.
From the ALS Association website.
“Between July 29 and today, August 12, The ALS Association and its 38 chapters have received an astonishing $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million during the same time period last year. The ALS Association is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from those people who have been doused, made a donation, or both. Contributions further The Association’s mission to find a cure for ALS while funding the highest quality of care for people living with the disease.”
So if you take the challenge, are you also committed to donating? I hope so, and I hope the Browns answer not only with ice water but with cold cash.
It is a bit like the Diabete’s Walk-a-Thon. you walk and can pledge your own money and also get others to pledge their money as well.
What I want to know is if it started from the Cowboy’s ice bucket drill that went viral or if it was started elsewhere.
Sounds like it might have been Jimmy Fallon?
but where did Fallon get the idea? the timing so close to after that Cowboy’s video seems to suggest it was taken from them, but I haven’t seen any suggest that it actually was.
I’ve been seeing the ALS ice bucket challenge on facebook since early June.
Ah, ok. Good to know
I know hockey ain’t big round these parts, but I think Paul Bissonnette (most recently of the Coyotes) wins the Internet for his Ice Bucket Challenge.
