September 24, 2014Everybody’s cashing in—or is trying to, anyway. While drafting Johnny Manziel to play second base was a nice publicity move earlier this summer, the San Diego Padres reportedly took things a step further by selling his jersey inside of the team’s shop.

After taking him in the 28th round of the 2014 MLB draft (because the Padres, of all teams, can afford to waste draft picks), the Padres were apparently selling Johnny Manziel baseball jerseys at their team store for $81.75 (from $109!), a bizarre and somewhat steep price regardless of the discount. Nevertheless, after fans were outraged by the stunt, the team pulled them from the racks.

At least one fan had the chance to snag what may go down as a bit of a collectors item—at least until random fans start creating their own to wear around Petco next summer for the sake of protest or the desire to do the ‘money sign’ within context.

LoL at least one person bought one and it was before Beerfest and not after!
I’ll be much happier when Dallas starts selling JFF jerseys.
I wouldn’t put it past Jerry to sell them w/o even trading for him.
