FCC favors abolishing NFL TV blackout rules
September 11, 2014Should Browns offer Johnny Manziel to Dallas?
September 11, 2014You’re on your lunch break, standing in line at Subway, thumbing through your Twitter feed and praying the greasy haired man will just give you your sandwich instead include you in his daily comedy routine. You think to yourself, “who would be a good new follow for me?”
@HistoryInPics? Ehhh that’s okay.
@ChrissyTeigen? That’d probably be good.
@WFNYArticles? Most definitely.
But don’t stop there, because former Browns’ President Joe Banner is on Twitter and he’s not holding back.
Wondering to yourself what the Patriots trading Ryan Mallet to Houston really means? Is this a big deal, little deal or no deal at all? Well, let Banner put it into terms a Browns fan can understand.
We got a lot more for colt McCoy than Pats got for Mallet. A lot of hype about nothing.

Thanks Joe. Many folks were surprised to see the Browns part ways with Dion Lewis this preseason, opting instead for rookie Isiah Crowell. Count Banner among the surprised as he still believes in the running back he brought to Cleveland from Philly.
@caplannfl Dion Lewis is better all these guys. Lewis would've played over Ogbonnaya and McGahee in Cleveland last year, if healthy.

As a man who has spent most of his career working on the business side of football, Banner is sure to have some insightful points on spending trends around the league. I mean, you don’t become a cap guru just by having aesthetically pleasing 140 character messages.
I think I predicted that next pass rusher deal ( thought bit would be Quinn) would rest market. J.j. Watt sure did that .

Remember in January 2013 when it appeared Joe Banner, Michael Lombardi, and Jimmy Haslam had landed Chip Kelly as their new coach? The hottest name in college coaching, one of the most innovative football minds of a generation was coming to Cleveland. That is, until he wasn’t.
Still, Banner isn’t one to hold a grudge. He’s the guy who was shot down by the hottest girl at the bar, and then continues to tell his buddies just how hot she was. And I for one, can’t say I blame him. It still haunts me as to what could have been if the Browns would have landed Chip instead of Chud.
The real question is if you were picking a coach today, what order would you pick them in. Chip Kelly is in my top 5.

Chip Kelly has been giving his team time off the last few days, most coaches have been practicing. Who do u guess is right ?

And don’t you dare try to pin Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson, and Mitchell Schwartz on Banner. Like Shaggy, THAT WASN’T HIM. Send that tweet Tommy Heckert’s way.
"@ksumilk: @JoeBanner13 swartz weeden Richardson but now you are draft expert? Have fun never working for an nfl ream ever again." WASN'T ME

Banner may not have been the one who traded for the Bills’ 2015 first rounder in this past April’s draft, but he’s still keeping an eye on Buffalo for Browns’ fans. The man brings up a great point, the signing of Orton keeps the Bills another step away from free fall if their season goes south.
The Bills signing of Kyle Orton could prove to be very important signing to the Cleveland Browns. A change of a win or two could matter.

Lastly, who would have thought the man who became known as Brownie the Elf’s evil twin, had a sense of humor. In a world where we complain that those in the spotlight don’t show personality, then chastise them when they do, it’s refreshing to see Banner be…well…human.
"@clesports216: @JoeBanner13 what was the craziest thing you heard from a Browns fan?"
That I didn't do an awesome job. Just kidding 🙂

Here’s to you Joe, and to the day you tweet @JimIrsay a shirtless selfie that reads “Do you even lift bro?”

Joe has been one of the more interesting follows on twitter of late. I haven’t found myself thinking “he’s just blatantly wrong” thus far.
Good call on Tiegen. She’s a great follow. Hot and pretty funny to boot.
I definitely dig the Banner Twitter in my timeline too. As you pointed out, it’s nice to see him *candidly* replying to people.
His comments on regretting trading out of last year into this year because it got him fired were interesting, too. He’s been a fascinating follow. I wish he’d get that blue checkmark, though…
The claim that he got more for McCoy than the Pats got for Mallet ticked me off. As I pointed out on Twitter (where no one can hear you tweet), what Banner and Lombardi got for McCoy was Bess and Gilkey. Maybe the Patriots will get the same thing when they exercise the pick they got from Houston — i.e. nothing — but they won’t (because you mathematically can’t) get anything less.
