Brian Hoyer Is Good. But Isn’t it OK to Want Something Better?
October 29, 2014The Definitive List of the Best Simpsons Episodes Ever
October 29, 2014We already know a lot of folks in the entertainment industry will be on hand and court-side for the Cleveland Cavaliers home opener this Thursday. So far there have been RSVP’s from Kevin Hart, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake with Jay-Z and Beyonce being rumored. That’s just the start for what’s being called “the hottest ticket in all of sports” but what does the rest of the entertainment industry think? More importantly, say I contacted a few famous people and some well known comedians that I know, what would they tell me?
So that’s what I did: I reached out to handful of well-known comedians and various celebrity types and asked them to give me a quote or two on LeBron James, the impending home opener, or an opinion on the upcoming Cavaliers season for the Cleveland.
Here’s what they all told me:
Ted Alexandro (@TedAlexando)
Comedian, YouTube Series “Teachers Lounge”; seen on David Letterman, Louie on FX, Late Night With Craig Ferguson
“I hope LeBron wears a slightly burned jersey at all home games to let people know that he hasn’t forgotten and they’re not forgiven.”
Amy Schumer (@AmySchumer)
Comedian, Inside Amy Schumer; upcoming movie “Trainwreck” co-starring LeBron James
“I think LeBron is very handsome”
Tammy Pescatelli (@TammyPescatelli)
Comedian, Last Comic Standing; Comedy Central Presents; The Tonight Show
“Now people will once again have something to wear to work for ‘Casual Friday”
Lynne Koplitz (@FunnyLynne)
Comedian, Comedy Central Presents; Z-Rock; AMC; IFC
“Cleveland taking LeBron back is as sad as the time Barbra Streisand let Don Johnson sing on her album”
“As far as lifetime popularity, move over John Glenn. I don’t recall any athlete EVER returning like this in his PRIME.”
— Chuck D, Legend
Rapper; Founder of the legendary rap group and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees ‘Public Enemy’
“LBJ could seriously run for Governor now in Ohio….As far as lifetime popularity, move over John Glenn. I don’t recall any athlete EVER returning like this in his PRIME.”
Godfrey (@GodfreyComedian)
Comedian, Comedy Central; Soul Plane; Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon; Louie on FX
“LeBron James coming back to Cleveland is like Beyonce coming back to Destiny’s Child”
Wendy Liebman (@WendyLiebman)
Comedian; Recent America’s Got Talent Finalist; David Letterman
“Who’s LeBron??”
Steve Hofstetter (@SteveHofstetter)
Comedian; Host of Fox’s Laughs; Sirius XM Radio, ESPN
“It’s great that LeBron came back, because now his tattoo makes sense again. When you have a 330 tattoo in Miami, that’s just the number of homicides you witnessed.”
Ben Gleib (@BenGleib)
Kevin Smith’s Smodcast Network; Chelsea Lately; The movie “Ice Age”; Host of IDIOTTEST on GSN
“It must be very exciting for Cavs fans…I wonder though, can you un-burn a jersey?”
Sam Tripoli (@SamTripoli)
Comedy Central; Showtime; The Naught Show founder; Playboy Radio
“The return of the King!! I’m super excited to see LBJ in a European style offense where he will finally be able to play more like Magic Johnson than force into the role of Michael Jordan. The Cavs should struggle a bit at first and than his their stride by the end by the end of the season. The Finals will put my Los Angeles Clippers vs your Cleveland Cavaliers. Your season will be INSANE”
Don Jamieson (@DonJamieson)
Comedian; Co-host of VH-1’s That Metal Show
“It’s incredible that King James returned to his home state. Not only is it great for Cleveland but if he ever finds himself down on his luck, he can always move back in with Mom.”
Jim Florentine (@MrJimFlorentine)
Comedian, Co-host of VH-1’s That Metal Show; Opie Radio; Howard Stern; Crank Yankers
“Please take Chad Zumock’s prediction on the upcoming Cavs season serious. He is a master at them. I’ve been in bars with him and he has predicted he will take a certain girl home. He is 0-34. He also predicted when the Browns drafted Brady Quinn that he would be the next Joe Montana. So let’s hope Chad predicts LeBron and the Cavs come in last place and then they will bring the city of Cleveland the Championship it deserves.”
Vernon Reid (@Vurnt22)
Musician, Top 100 Guitar Players Rolling Stone Magazine; Lead Guitar player for Living Colour
“Home is where the heart is.”
Artie Lange (@ArtieQuitter)
Comedian, Artie Lange Show; Beer League; Howard Stern; Comedy Central
“[I’m] Happy For Cleveland.”
Eddie Iffit (@EddieIfft)
Comedian, Comedy Central; Last Comic Standing; Talkin’ S%$T Podcast
“F*CK”
Jason Lawhead (@JasonLawhead)
AXS Gotham Comedy Live; Lawhead’s Court on ATC Network
“Being a Cleveland sports fan your whole makes one pessimistically optimistic, which defines our loyalty as the fans we are today. At the end of the day, I am still pessimistically optimistic about his loyalty but it’s the optimism of it I’m excited about. Go Cavs!”

Gotta love Florentine’s tweet. haha
Nice to see cutting edge comedians go with the groundbreaking burnt jersey bits. Hot takes, everywhere.
So do comedians have LinkedIn pages where they can let the world know they were on Letterman that one time?
lots of attempts, Godfrey the only one to deliver an actual punchline
decidedly unfunny all around. If these were the good ones should have just ditched it.
