Browns demolish Steelers 31-10! Tweets of the game
October 12, 2014ESPN covering LeBron and Lorenzo Cain on Statcast: While We’re Waiting…
October 13, 2014This one is absolutely for you, Browns fans. This was a complete performance for the Browns at home in front of those who have suffered at the hands of the Steelers the most. The Browns faced adversity in the way of injuries and persevered against a more experienced team with an elite quarterback. You Browns fans caused havoc frequently in the first half with the volume level as the Browns went out to a 21-3 lead. It was an uneventful second half, except that it was quite actually one of the most fun second halves of any Browns game I can remember. The team finished the game 31-10 over the Steelers. Uneventful is not a complaint.
The only downside to the day was injuries. Alex Mack appears poised to miss significant time with what seems likely to be a broken something or other in his leg. The Browns wasted no time getting him on a cart and off the field. Adding to the list, K’Waun Williams also left the game with concussion tests in his future. At points in the second half, the Browns looked like a 4-3 team with two interior defensive linemen and two defensive ends. It wasn’t good. Except the Browns won anyway!
Other than the fans, I couldn’t have been happier for Brian Hoyer. This Cleveland kid has done nothing but work hard and prove doubters wrong. Is he the next Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? No, he’s not, but with a good offensive line, decent receivers and a matching running game, Hoyer is proving a capable driver of this offense. The Browns haven’t had trouble scoring points this year and didn’t again on Sunday putting up 31.
What else is there to talk about?
The Browns beat a hated rival at home, in convincing fashion. Antonio Brown got some catches against Joe Haden. The secondary committed some annoying penalties. The defense was so thin by the end of the game that they just looked gassed as they gave up a meaningless TD to Ben Roethlisberger and Lance Moore to make it 31-10. The key here though is that it was completely meaningless.
That’s it. We’ll enjoy this one for the whole week. There won’t be any hemming and hawing like there was last week after the Browns just scraped by the Titans. Mike Pettine continues to say that this is a pass / fail league, and he’s right. But if last week’s win against the Titans was a C+ or a B- this win over the Steelers was definitely an A. Nearly an A+.

Sweet.
Justin Gilbert still stinks.
Ha, love the yinzer with the paper bag!
Watching the game, it didn’t really look like we dominated as much as the score indicates. We were just methodical. Man, this is nice!
What a game.
Meaningless unless you started the browns defense in fantasy… But who cares, this was awesome!
Relegated to drinking beer in St. Augustine, watching the ticker.
It did not suck. 🙂
Ben must have eaten another AWESOME SANDWICH!!!

Greco was fantastic in relief for Mack. No botched snaps, great protection in the passing game, and strong in the run game. He was tested on the very first play when the Steelers attempted to rearrange his face with a blitz…seriously, did anyone see the impact on that?
Mack is a stud, and I hope he is okay, but Greco did a great job keeping the Steelers from taking advantage.
No Backers near?

The Browns are good.
It’s been a while but, the Browns are a good football team.
i know it’s picking nits, but he was 5 yards off his receiver in the end zone on a play at the end of that game (just can’t remember which one). And then he started celebrating like he made a play.
I’m more impressed with Kyle Shanahan than with any other coordinator in the league.
The Browns are a better football team than they were last season. Whether they are a good football team remains to be seen. They were 3-2 last year as well. Great win yesterday–beyond great considering the opponent. But next week is another game. And ten more will follow that. Let’s see where we are after that before we jump to any conclusions.
Dick Lebeau game-planned to stone what the Browns did against the Titans and succeeded. Two three and outs to start.
And Shanahan adapted and ‘out coordinatored’ Dick LeBeau from the third drive forward. Can’t give him enough credit.
(Unfortunately at this rate there is no way he won’t be a head coach somewhere else next year. Hope the Coach Pett is grooming a successor.)
Oh my maybe he was just caught up in the emotion of a big win. He still just needs time. Although the more I see of Fuller in Chicago the more I start to get nervous. It’s not like the Browns have a great history of success with Oklahoma State players. Fuller went to VT and has a long NFL bloodline. That being said I’m still holding out hope for Gilbert.
I can’t speak to the many other coordinators in the league but clearly Shanahan has worked wonders. Lets also not forget, thank you Joe Banner for reminding us on Twitter, that Shanahan also has a lot more players to work with who have NFL skills.
I don’t think it’s premature to call them a good team. They are a good team. They were a good team last year at 3-2, lost Hoyer, and became a bad team, because they had the worst starting QB situation in the league.
I know we’re not that far apart in our opinions, but in my mind, facing 4 Super Bowl winning QBs (I counted the Steelers twice), and coming out 3-2 on the other side, makes them a good team until further notice.
Just think about that…the only team they’ve faced that hasn’t won a Super Bowl in the last decade is the Titans.
They are a good team, and their next 3 opponents have combined for 1 win this season. If they finish this stretch worse than 2-1, I might change my opinion.
“omg omg omg joe banner is talking to us on twitter you guys!!”
when did cleveland fans turn into 7th grade schoolgirls?
Sorry Mike Banner!
I was just thinking that recently, too. I hope it’s not true and they can retain him. Really like what he’s doing.

A good team will handle its business these next few weeks. Let’s see what happens.
