Craig, you need to let the “why didn’t the Tribe trade for anyone at the deadline?” narrative go. The expanded playoffs and the way draft pick compensation works has limited the number of “sellers”. I’m guessing the front office thought their chance of making the playoffs wasn’t worth a 2 month rental, especially for the guys who may have been available.
It’s easy to look back and say they should have made a trade after they rode a hot pitching staff in August. However, who could’ve guessed that Carrasco would’ve turned it around or that the Kluber and Bauer would continue to improve?
You can counter it if you want, but this season seemed like a wasted opportunity to me. We were told about windows and going for it when the time was right. Shrug.
