November 17, 2014While the Cleveland Browns lost the game on Sunday, they also suffered several major injuries on defense. One of the most notable losses was linebacker Karlos Dansby, who left the game early with a knee issue and whose long-term status remains unclear
Dansby, 33, is one of the team’s emotional leaders and is the leading tackler with 69. He signed a four-year $24 million deal as a free agent from Arizona in the offseason. The team will be conducting an MRI of his knee on Monday, but worries are that he may have suffered an MCL sprain, reported ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler:
Hearing possible MCL sprain for #Browns LB Karlos Dansby. Team will know more tomorrow

He had only missed four defensive snaps through the team’s first nine games. After he went down in the second quarter, Craig Robertson and rookie Christian Kirksey finished out the game as the starters on the inside. Northeast Ohio Media Group’s Tom Reed had several sobering quotes from players on how much Dansby means to their makeup and how much of a blow a serious injury would be.
Also knocked out of the game was outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard. The team announced that he has suffered a foot injury and they will provide a further update to his status on Monday as well, but his injury is not seemed to be as severe. The 25-year-old had two sacks thus far this season.
Last week, of course, the Browns already suffered one season-ending injury in the form of Phil Taylor. The big defensive tackle had continued right knee problems and his future in Cleveland now seems in doubt. Billy Winn replaced him as the starter and also got banged up, but later returned to the game.

Already weak LB corps loses it’s best, ouch. I know one position I’m hoping gets upgraded this spring.
