LeBron James wins first (of many) awards for 2014-15 season

November 17, 2014The Cleveland Browns used to be deep on defense. Remember that? They had more defensive linemen than they knew what to do with. Now, the Browns are down two more key defensive players at least for a little while as Karlos Dansby and Jabaal Sheard are the latest names to adorn the Browns’ injury list with both players leaving mid-way through Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans.
According to the latest on Twitter, Karlos Dansby will miss up to four weeks with an MCL sprain in his knee. The news on Jabaal Sheard is even worse as he might be done for the year with an apparent foot injury.
#Browns Pettine: LB Karlos Dansby (knee) could miss upward of a month. Said OLB Jabaal Sheard (foot) could be done for year. Not definite.

“Next man up” is much better when you’re on your first or second “next man.” The Browns are going to be hitting up the end of their practice squad before it’s all said and done. They’re already without Armonty Bryant, Phil Taylor, and John Hughes.
The Browns have rookie Chris Kirksey and Tank Carder listed on the linebacker depth chart to possibly step in for Karlos Dansby, but I don’t think I’m being mean when I say that they’ll have a tough time filling Dansby’s shoes. As for Sheard, I don’t know what the Browns will do. Obviously Barkevious Mingo’s name will come up more often, you would think. Sione Fua played 23 snaps on Sunday and failed to record a single statistic. Enough said?
Either way, it will be difficult for the Browns to replace that production. In the meantime, Craig Robertson will fill the defensive play-calling duties for Dansby.

Pettine and all NFL coaches talk about injuries presenting opportunities for the next men on the depth chart. If nothing else, the Browns defense has created lots of “opportunities” this season. How’s that for looking on the bright side?

well, we are used to seeing absolutely terrible LBers play, right?
tough blow, but we don’t have time for it now. gotta beat Atlanta, then find a couple more wins to have a shot at the playoffs.
Looks like Kirksey is going to get his chance to sink or swim.
Josh Cribbs called in. He wants everyone to know he’s ready to suit up at LB if needed. Please text or call.
well, now there shouldn’t be any excuses about having to open up a roster spot for a Punt-returner.
2014 was a good season. Even though winning 6 games once again was too short to get in the Playoffs, at least the team is now as good as the MAnginni “Glory Days” of winning more than 4 games per season.
Good news is he won’t have to cover JJ Watt anymore this season.
Cribbs is like Ubaldo Jimenez nobody wants them!
