Tashaun Gipson’s loss leaves a big gap in the Browns defense
November 25, 2014Cleveland Browns vs. Atlanta Falcons: Behind the Box Score
November 25, 2014When Doug Brown of Scene broke the Johnny Manziel story, it appeared pretty bad for Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel. Much like Ray Farmer said, it’s always disappointing when one of your players finds themselves in the wrong kind of news. But the more we get to know the other party involved in the Manziel fracas, the more it seems like this isn’t much of a Johnny Manziel issue. The Browns obviously know a lot more than we do, and they’ve apparently determined as much as well.
Mike Pettine spoke to ESPN’s Mike and Mike this morning and indicated that based on what they’ve seen and heard that there’s no reason that Manziel wouldn’t be available to play this weekend when the Browns go to Buffalo. Pettine also added his impressions of Manziel in the building are still good.
“I’ve had a talk with Johnny,” Pettine said. “He was very up-front with us and notified us immediately when it occurred. As far as in the building, he’s been a true professional, he’s done everything that’s been asked of him, but obviously this is something that’s unfortunate.”
Of course the fact that Johnny Manziel hasn’t been eliminated as a viable option on Sunday means very little. Manziel is still firmly behind Brian Hoyer on the quarterback depth chart as the Browns head down the stretch of the season trying to prove to the world that they’re capable of making the playoffs.

Went 11 weeks without a single off-field headline.

New newspaper headline:
“Johnny Manziel fails to make newspaper headlines”
what’s a newspaper
Bill Livingston’s grateful. Johnny just gave him four more columns.
Craig, kind of a misleading headline, no? While factually accurate, it implies that Pettine is game planning for Manziel. You’re better than this…
I concur.
yep
As a multi-year lurker, that headline is the click-bait-iest click-bait I have ever seen on this website. Please don’t shift towards the flashy title meager article mode of journalism. This site is and has long been better than that.
“But the more we get to know the other party involved in the Manziel fracas, the more it seems like this isn’t much of a Johnny Manziel issue.”
Been kinda busy and missed this part of the story. Can anyone summarize or point me to this part of the story? Thanks!
Nothing good happens after midnight.
I don’t know, a lot of post-midnight hooks-ups have been pretty good for me.
Meanwhile at the PD…
Johnny might play!

This headline comes across as serious click-baiting. I’m sure (I hope) it’s unintentional, but it doesn’t actually get addressed until the last three lines of the article.
Just wanted to make a quick comment like some others here. I’ve been visiting this site for a few years now and this is a pretty poorly written headline. Just a little surprised by it and its not what I’m used to.
I’m sorry to pile on with another “click-bait” comment, but this is so egregiously wrong and unprofessional. For many years I’ve read this site (and clicked on your ads) a few times a week for its decent writing and common interests. I don’t think that will be the case anymore. And it’s sad that the author has not replied in any way.
You missed the “Lebron tests positive for steroids” While We’re Waiting from a few years back. It was Steve LeBron, from the minor league system. That was click bait with Stadium mustard.
as far as I can tell, Johnny Manziel DID play on Sunday.
So now what do you say about the headline?
