November 30, 2014The Brooklyn Nets could look to trade forward Andrei Kirilenko and the Cleveland Cavaliers are rumored to be one team interested in acquiring the veterans services.
Kirilenko, who famously joined the Nets after taking less money than the market would have seemingly dictated, has completely fallen out of the Nets’ rotation and has missed the last several games due to what’s being described as “personal reasons.” A deal had been discussed with Philadelphia, involving Kirilenko and former Cavalier swingman Sergey Karasev, but that wouldn’t have happened until Dec. 15 at the earliest. Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Kirilenko’s family matter could keep him in New York until January, but that the Cavs could have interest in the 33-year old closer to the February deadline or if a buyout is reached.
The Nets have been working to find a team that’ll take the balance of his $3.3 million deal, but it appears that Kirilenko and any potential suitors are the ones with all of the leverage. While his best days are indeed behind him, the former All-Star and first-team defender could realistically provide depth at the wing.
