No Varejao Presenting Its Challenges: Cavs vs Florida Teams Behind The Box Score
December 27, 2014Justin Gilbert late for team meeting, will be inactive for Week 17
December 28, 2014Josh Gordon started the season suspended, so he might as well finish it that way, right?
Mike Silver reported that Josh Gordon and Johnny Manziel missed the Browns’ walk-through, which might now seem to be inexcused, at least on Gordon’s part. Manziel has been deactivated for the rest of the season with his injury sustained that knocked him out of the Panthers game.
For Browns fans, this can be about the least surprising thing you can hear heading into the final game of the season. For Browns fans, this is just another in a long line of typically negative things that seem to happen down the stretch of a Cleveland Browns season. The good news? At least the Browns suspended Gordon and he won’t be one of those rumored players who just continually get away with murder without repercussion.
That’s little solace for a beaten down Browns fan base that supported their team and its leading receiver from a year ago to the fullest this year. Not to overplay the populist message in order to appeal to Browns fans, but I think this is especially disrespectful to them after a season of standing up for and standing by the troubled receiver who has been given third, fourth, maybe even fifth or sixth chances because he has physical talent and abilities.
At some point, even the most co-dependent of Browns fans will just say enough’s enough. In the end, the Cleveland Browns are 10-25 in games that Josh Gordon plays. The Browns are only 1-4 in this current season since Josh Gordon returned to the team. That’s not to say that the record is directly attributable to Gordon, but the Browns can surely lose without the guy as well as they can lose with him.

Just read that the Browns will gain an extra year of Gordon because he failed to reach 6 games. Gotta wonder if this is Farmer trying to maximize Gordon’s value. Regardless, this is going to be a hotly debated topic going forward.
he’s a good player
Maximize for a trade…?
Doesn’t help if he’s always suspended.
This time, I think he should just go with the second-hand Johnny defense.
Sh*tforbrains.
Sigh…

6-4 without Gordon. 1-4 with Gordon.
I predicted this. It will be drugs again this summer. Also. I bet that JF will be playing golf next week.
The Browns are in message sending mode this week, letting various guys know what isn’t good enough in a fairly public way. On notice so far: Johnny Manziel, Justin Gilbert, and Josh Gordon. The Browns have made it clear that they aren’t giving up on these guys, but they’ve also made it clear that the level of effort and professionalism this year won’t cut it if they want to remain employed.
I’m glad to see it. Everybody talks about establishing a standard of excellence, but they are afraid to risk looking bad by calling out a high draft pick when they don’t live up to that standard. It’s important for the other guys on the team to know there will be accountability for those who don’t work hard enough no matter who drafted them and in what round. Maybe they’ll finally start to change that culture over the next couple of seasons.
if they suspend him w/o pay, then he will be a RFA instead of an UFA after next season. I haven’t seen it reported definitively yet which list he ended up on. And, expect an appeal if it happens to be unpaid.
