January 23, 2015The best players the NHL has to offer will take the ice at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio this weekend as the 2015 NHL All-Star Game festivities commence. The weekend kicks off on Saturday with the All-Star Skills Competition and concludes the following day with the All-Star Game on Sunday night. It will be the first time the game has been held since 2012 due to lockout and Winter Olympics interference over the last two seasons, but secondary market ticket prices to both events are lower than 2012’s weekend in Ottawa.
This year’s All-Star Skills Competition will feature six events that all 48 All-Stars and Rookies will compete in on Saturday night. Ranging from the Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater to the AMP NHL Fastest Shot Challenge, each player will showcase their talents on the ice under Team Foligno or Team Toews, who will captain sides all weekend. The average price for NHL All-Star Skills Competition tickets on TiqIQ average at $206.37, down 35.2% from 2012’s average of $318.85. Get-in price starts at $120 for Saturday’s event.
Despite the return of the All-Star festivities after a two-year hiatus, the weekend’s events will see lower ticket prices on the secondary market in comparison to 2012.
Fans still searching for tickets will also find 2-day pass strips on TiqIQ, which own an average price of $348.62. Purchasing the multi-event pass will allow fans to experience both days in Columbus this weekend, offering tickets to both the Skills Competition and All-Star Game. The cheapest 2-day pass available is currently listed at $223, which is slightly higher than what the Skills Competition is averaging alone on the secondary market. For those wanting to enjoy all the NHL action, a 2-day pass will likely be the most lucrative option.
Among the list of All-Stars heading to Ohio this weekend is Corey Crawford, Zemgus Girgensons, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, who were all voted as first All-Stars along with team captain Jonathan Toews and assistant captain Patrick Kane. Superstars Steven Stamkos, Tyler Seguin, Alex Ovechkin and rising rookie Johnny Gaudreau will also skate this weekend. Penguins star forward Sidney Crosby will miss the game with a lower back injury.
Despite the return of the All-Star festivities after a two-year hiatus, the weekend’s events will see lower ticket prices on the secondary market in comparison to 2012. As the All-Star Game enters its third year in the fantasy draft era, fans should take advantage of the tumbling secondary prices when the league’s top players head to Columbus this weekend.
