January 6, 2015It’s obviously hard to figure out how it’s all going to work out in the end, but you could have said the same thing with any lineup featuring Dion Waiters. Tim Legler of ESPN talks about the dynamics of the Cavaliers now that the trade has been made. He says that Iman Shumpert should take the starting two-guard spot as well. Of course, he means once Shumpert comes back healthy from his shoulder injury.

It’s interesting to note that Legler thinks the Cavaliers upgraded their team and that’s without even mentioning the protected first-round pick that the Cavaliers picked up from the Thunder. That’s one thing it feels like the Cavaliers are taking care with their new-found roster featuring three superstars. As opposed to the Heat who traded away nearly every asset and draft pick, the Cavaliers have continued to amass strategically advantageous picks and contracts.

Like I’ve said I’m not bothered by this trade at all thanks to Shumpert and another first round protected pick. I still think there is another deal(s) brewing to address the front court.
