Should the Cavs kick the tires on Amare Stoudemire?
February 12, 2015Video: LeBron James featured in trailer for Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck”
February 12, 2015You may remember hearing about a Browns fan who got into hot water last July for releasing some of his own in the wrong place. It looks like his punishment will be lighter than first expected.
Paul Serbu of Franklin, Ohio used a catheter and tube system to effectively urinate on former Browns’ owner Art Modell’s grave in suburban Baltimore. The incident was recorded and posted on YouTube, and legal action was taken against Serbu shortly thereafter. He was charged with disorderly conduct in a cemetery, which is a misdemeanor, and he could have faced up to two years in jail.
A video from last July, if you’d like a refresher:
It all sounded very ugly then, but cooler heads look to be prevailing now. From the Baltimore Sun:
The charge, filed last July, was dropped Tuesday, and Serbu has agreed to appear on the radio with Modell’s son, David, to discuss what happened, said Baltimore County Deputy State’s Attorney John Cox.
Cox said he received information about “a physical condition” that Serbu has, but said it would be inappropriate to elaborate. He said he also had a number of conversations with David Modell about the charge.
“We talked about a resolution that we all felt was appropriate,” Cox said. “Mr. Modell suggested that this individual have an opportunity to apologize, and then converse with him on his radio show.”
David Modell co-hosts the “Armstrong Williams” show on SiriusXM Urban View. He told The Baltimore Sun on Wednesday that when the YouTube video came to light, he had challenged the suspect to appear on air to apologize.
Modell said he hopes the radio appearance — which has not been scheduled — can be an opportunity to talk about accountability and appropriate behavior.
He added that he does not want to “abuse” Serbu on air.
“It’s just an opportunity for him to kind of come clean … and apologize to my family, and we’ll move on,” Modell said.
Art Modell will always be a sore subject in Cleveland, but this seems like a reasonable resolution to an unfortunate situation. The man ripped the Browns out of Cleveland, yes, but peeing on his grave isn’t exactly taking the high road.
David Modell comes out of this looking good, in my eyes. Hopefully the relevant parties will settle things and, as the junior Modell says, they can move on.

He should have been sacrificed to the football Gods instead six more years of bad luck it’s called Karma!
I don’t like giving props to any Modells, but this was a grown-up way of handling the situation.
Ugh. I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing about that yahoo again.
A catheter and tube system? Why didn’t he just whip it out and pee?
That’s quite an impressive monument Modell built for his rotting corpse. What an egotistical piece of garbage.
And what about the “medical condition” of yahoo #2 who filmed it? Agree with RGB: hope this is the last we hear of him or the incident. Not the slightest bit funny, even as a tired punch line.
