Things that please me about the Cleveland Cavaliers right now
February 4, 2015A Beginner’s Guide to the Cleveland State Vikings
February 4, 2015Former Cleveland Browns good guy D’Qwell Jackson was arrested Tuesday night for assault in the Washington D.C. area. We all know that road rage is real, but is there anything more infuriating than parking lots? Apparently it was infuriating to D’Qwell Jackson.
The 31-year-old pizza delivery employee told police he said to Jackson that he was going to use the space momentarily, but Jackson allegedly got upset and told the driver to get the “expletive” out of his parking space before punching the driver in his face and on the back of his head.
The Browns cut D’Qwell Jackson and he signed on with the Indianapolis Colts before the 2014 NFL season. His deal is for four years and $22 million with $11 million guaranteed. For the 2015 season, Jackson is due to count $5.75 million on the Colts’ cap as he is due to collect the rest of his “guaranteed” money.
As Pro Football Talk wisely points out, Jackson will be subject to the new personal conduct policy.
Apart from facing legal scrutiny, Jackson will be subject to punishment under the new personal conduct policy, which contemplates paid leave for certain types of violent crime. Jackson could be barred from Colts practice and games until any ensuing prosecution is resolved.
It’s all unfortunate to hear about a guy like D’Qwell Jackson who was notorious – in a good way – for being a good guy and a hard worker. The only reason any Browns fans were happy to see him go were based on football capabilities and the financial implications of having him on the roster. When the Browns said goodbye to Jackson, it saved about $4 million on the salary cap and they added Karlos Dansby.

I blame Haslam. Takes more than a season to wash this org out of your system.
I kid. But it goes to show that we talk nonsense when we brand athletes “good guys” or whatever. Save it for people you actually know.
I was going to…

…then I remembered, he’s not a Brown anymore.
Whew.
the face palm is still valid and the entire situation is sad.
Well, at least nobody shot anybody, which is the method of choice for dealing with disputes here in C-Town.
I could understand beating up the guy over toppings – like, where’s my EXTRA cheese, dude!!?? But a parking space?
D’Qwell hit a guy well after he took the spot…. not surprising. Now, had D’Qwell hit him on the road before he already got the spot, THAT would be news….
ouch …
Craig, there is no such thing as notorious in a good way. Notorious in a good way is famous.
Comment of the century here.
How about if he was infamous in a good way? 🙂
