Cleveland Browns have third most cap space in 2015
February 2, 2015Cavs vs 76ers Behind the Box Score: Eleven in a row
February 2, 2015We learned that Kyrie would be in the Three-Point Shootout on February 2. The NBA officially announced it on February 5.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that sweet-shooting Cavalier point guard Kyrie Irving is returning to the All-Star Weekend Three Point Shootout for the third consecutive season. The three-time All-Star was announced as one of the six participants this evening, joining a lineup that includes a field of stiff competition with the Golden State Splash Brothers Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, defending champion and Spur Marco Belinelli, Portland’s Wesley Matthews, J.J. Redick of the Clippers, and Atlanta’s Kyle Korver, who some thought should have earned the All-Star nod over Kyrie.
Irving won the competition in his first try in 2013, netting the third-highest point total in final round history with a score of 23, defeating San Antonio’s Matt Bonner. He also owns the third-longest streak of made three-pointers with 10.
This season, Irving thus far has a career-best shooting clip from beyond the arc at 40.9% with 97 makes in 237 attempts. Irving is on pace to shatter his career high for makes (123) and attempts (344), both set last season. Kyrie currently ranks 18th in the league in percentage and 12th in makes. Matthews sets the pace with a whopping 148 makes, and four of Irving’s five fellow competitors have dropped in 135 or more treys in the first half of the season.

That field is loaded love to see a final two of Irving and Curry but I’d be happy if anyone but the Ashton Kutcher lookalike (Korver) won. Tired of hearing his name.
I am disappointed to not see the token big guy 3pt specialist in the group. Ryan Anderson, Channing Frye, or Patrick Patterson should be on the list. A shame.
