LeBron on Johnny Manziel: “I want him to get better”
February 3, 2015Draft rumor season kicks into high gear with the Browns and Marcus Mariota
February 3, 2015The Cleveland Cavaliers are a renewed bunch all the way around and a big part of it is that they’re playing better defense. The Cavaliers have held their last nine opponents under 100 points. There’s no question that the additions of Timofey Mozgov, Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith have brought a defensive energy to the team, and it’s been infectious.
Take this play from Monday’s game against the 76ers for example.
And Tristan Thompson doesn’t even know what to do with it…

Cavaliers played down to the Sixers last night but their superior talent allowed them to pull away late. The defense still isn’t great but compared to the first 35-40 games of the season it’s dramatically improved. Funny how an upgrade in talent can have that effect isn’t it? Since I’m talking about defense have to once again single out Tristan Thompson. I don’t know what happened if it’s him coming off the bench as a sixth man or what but he is playing great. David Griffin will have his work cut out for him this summer with salaries.
indeed, I continually remind myself that we may have to kiss TT goodbye and that makes me sad all day.
Do we…I have to think Griffin planned ahead no? I know I sure wish he didn’t give Varejao the deal he did but I understand why. Who knows maybe if the Cavaliers win it all or make a serious effort that along with the players on this team may be able to help keep TT here. I just know the role he is playing was made for him and he’s excelling in it.
I wouldn’t call it “playing down” as much as I would call it “practicing”.
Well that practice was to long lol. I keep hopingthese lesser games would end in blowouts so guys could get some rest.
