MAC Tournament Tips Off in Cleveland With NCAA Bid on the Line
March 11, 2015Indians increase Corey Kluber’s salary for 2015
March 11, 2015Buster Skrine leaving via free agency served to create yet another hole in the Swiss Cheese-like wish list for the Cleveland Browns, and it appears the team is doing what they can to kick the tires on potential replacements.
On Thursday, the team plans to host free agent cornerback Perrish Cox, he formerly of the San Francisco 49ers. Cox, originally a fifth-round draft pick, started 14 games for San Francisco last season and led the team with five interception. At 5-11 and 190 pounds, he provides a frame substantially larger than that of Skrine, potentially making him a better fit for the outside in the event the team cannot count on Justin Gilbert to rebound in his second season.
In addition to Cox, the Browns are reportedly eying up cornerback Brandon Browner, a four-year NFL veteran who, like Darrelle Revis, hit the market on Tuesday when the Patriots opted not to pay him a $2 million roster bonus. Browner is reportedly visiting with the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins, and has yet to schedule a meeting with Cleveland. In 2014, Browner started in nine games for the NFL Champion Patriots, making 26 tackles, intercepting one pass and defensing seven others. He missed the early portion of the season after being suspended for substance abuse. At 6-4, 221 pounds, he would provide the team with a big body to defend more physical receivers. He also happens to have the most Cleveland Browns name ever.
If the Browns can’t manage to sign a veteran cornerback, they will have little choice but to rely on second-year players Justin Gilbert, K’Waun Williams and Pierre Desir to complement Pro Bowler Joe Haden, a position that would not necessarily put Browns fans at ease.

Brandon Browner, ha servers me right for making fun of the number of penalties that Skrine gets.
Still, I’d be happy with Browner. He would be a useful, physical corner.
I would take Browner as well. A ring, experience, physicality and size but lets be honest Justin Gilbert needs bounce back more then anything.
“He also happens to have the most Cleveland Browns name ever.”
Until we draft a kid named “Brownest.”
The Browns might not actually sign someone worthwhile, but it appears that they are getting a little Browner.
It’s a uniform play, obviously. Nike’s behind it.
Doesn’t Paul Brown have the most Cleveland Browns name ever?
The front office will sit back until anyone with any talent is gone and then pick up a back up nickel back. These guys set back this team 2 years with this last draft. Needed a wide receiver knowing full well the Joker we had would never make it through the season and we pass. Stick our necks out and gamble on a quarterback that 80% of the league wouldn’t touch. Why ? We found out why ! Five or six solid cornerbacks to be had and we find the one with personal issues. Who in God’s Name is interviewing these kids some towel boy ? So now comes free agency and we have a boat full of money to spend. We could possibly make up for some of our mistakes in this past draft. Maybe pick up a top wide receiver or a corner back but up until this point and I don’t see anything changing other than a lot of B.S. talk we pick up a totally useless quarterback, no better than what we had, but now we are paying a lot more money for these services and an average wide receiver who will be a crowd favorite because he is from Ohio and played at Ohio State. If this front office doesn’t show the Cleveland fans something this year with free agency and the draft that leads to a positive for the upcoming season then it is time for the fans to stand up and be heard. It has been 16 years and that is long enough. This is a joke and the City and the people of Cleveland deserve something better than what they are getting for all the loyalty they have shown to this team.
I thought it was the dude from Family Guy that had the most Cleveland Browns name ever?
