Blinded by the Lights: Cleveland State Struggles on Big Stage
March 2, 2015Josh McCown’s arrival leads to questions, not answers
March 2, 2015With less than 40 days remaining until the Cleveland Indians’ Opening Day tilt against the Detroit Tigers, the team is giving fans a chance to win a pair of the highly coveted tickets all while incorporating some of their new, highly delicious partners.
On Tuesday, March 3 fans can enter to win a chance to win two Opening Day tickets in addition to a tour of the newly renovated Right Field District before the gates open. Here’s how it’s all going down…
Indians mascots (multiple, apparently) and staff will be at Melt Lakewood, Barrio Gateway and Sweet Moses in Gordon Square to take in the team’s Spring Training opener against the Cincinnati Reds from Goodyear, AZ. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m. The team will hold parties at each of these restaurants, announced in January as the newest additions to the ballpark.
For those not in the know, additional details are as follows:
- Melt Lakewood (14718 Detroit Ave.): Happy Hour from 3-7 p.m, including $1 off beer, wine and liquor
- Barrio Downtown (503 Prospect Ave.): Typically opening at 4 p.m., will open early, at 2:30 and will have Happy Hour pricing — $1 off draft beer and tacos, half-price Margaritas – will run until 7 p.m.
- Sweet Moses, Gordon Square (6800 Detroit Ave.): Sweet Moses will offer its Ballpark Sundae, along with the rest of its regular menu, which right now also includes a Cleveland Clover shake
So, about that whole Opening Day Ticket Giveaway…
Any fans who purchase tickets to a 2015 game online or through the MLB.com Ballpark app while at one of the parties will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to the club’s home opener on Friday, April 10 vs. the Tigers. Fans must purchase online or through the app, at the location, and show an Indians staff member their email receipt to be entered into the raffle.
If you don’t win the Opening Day tickets, there will apparently be plenty of other chances to leave with some Tribe paraphernalia. The team will be playing Tribe Trivia between innings, with the fan with the most points at the end of the game winning two tickets to a private tour of the new Right Field District on Thursday, April 9. Points will be cumulative, so the closer to first pitch fans arrive the better their chances are of winning.
In the incredibly strange event food, beer, tacos, tickets and tours aren’t enough for you, they’ll also have Bobbleheads and other promotional items to give to fans. I’ll also be popping by Barrio, giving away high-fives. What more could you ask for?

Barrio Tacos? Really? That’s the actual name of a place?
