March 19, 2015With the regular season rolling down the home stretch, the MVP race is heating up. There are five legitimate candidates currently in the race for the most valuable player – Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, James Harden, LeBron James, and Russell Westbrook.
In an interview with “The Dan Patrick Show” on Tuesday, Curry said that he would vote to give the MVP to James, if he could not give the honor to himself.
“I’d probably vote for LeBron. He’s one of the most talented guys on the face of the planet”, Curry said.
Obviously, Curry would love to have the trophy himself, and has said as much,1 but the fact that he picked James to beat out the other top players in contention speaks to the respect he has for the Cavalier forward’s game.
Averaging 23.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 2.2 steals while shooting 48.1 percent from the floor and 43.1 percent from beyond the arc, Curry is having one of the best seasons of his young career.
Beyond LeBron, Curry is also very high on “The Brow,” Anthony Davis, and said that he would take his future over that of Westbrook or Harden.
“Anthony Davis all day long,” Curry said. “He’s doing special stuff before the age of 22. It’s unreal…I saw him this summer playing with Team USA together, and just watching him shoot, you could tell he was a guard at one point growing up because he just has those mechanics that you can’t really teach.”
“I predict he’ll probably be a 40 percent 3-point shooter by the time his career is over,” Curry told Patrick. “So if you add that to his game, I don’t know what you do.”
If Davis does in fact add the three-ball to his arsenal, his offensive game will almost be impossible to stop, along with the fact that he is already one of the best defenders in the league.
The race for the Most Valuable Player will definitely be an interesting one. Any of the five top players are capable of winning the award, but team success as well as overall accomplishments will play a role in determining who takes home the trophy.

i like Curry’s honesty. I hate when guys say, “I’m not even thinking about the MVP.”
In Curry’s eyes, if the Warriors are going to win the title, he is going to have to play like the MVP.
Curry is doing a nice job this year. Names also listed above should be considered as well. As a Cavs fan, I wouldn’t vote for LeBron. Would have earlier in the season, but it’s been Kyrie on the Cavs that’s been the MVP of the 2nd half IMHO. However, so far for the entire season, I’d vote for Westbrook b/c w/o him, the Thunder would’ve even be in the playoff conversation and he’s done it from the start of the season to this point.
But to be sure, I wouldn’t be upset over Curry getting the MVP.
