C-Cap Recap: Perfection to Dejection
April 18, 2015Cavalier Film Room: Switch-happy on the screen
April 18, 2015With Carlos Carrasco (somehow) only needing an extra day of rest before his next start following a line drive striking him in his face Tuesday night, the Cleveland Indians had to make a decision on how to handle the mound on Saturday for Game 2 in Minnesota. In turn, they have recalled starting pitcher Danny Salazar and optioned right-handed reliever Austin Adams to Columbus.
Salazar was one of the last pitchers to not make the opening day roster. Competing for the final starting rotation spot with Zach McAllister, Salazar lost the battle and was therefore demoted to Triple-A Columbus to work out mechanical issues.
The 25-year old will be making his first start with the Indians in this season. Last Friday, with the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A), Salazar threw six shutout innings, with seven strikeouts and allowed four hits to go along with no walks.
In his short, two-year career thus far, Salazar has racked up 34 starts in two seasons with the Indians. He has an 8-11 record, with a 3.89 ERA and has amassed 185 strikeouts, while allowing 161 hits and 50 walks.
