Indians provide Friday funnies with the Jerry Kipnis Show

As WFNY’s Jacob Rosen and Will Gibson alluded to earlier today, the Cleveland Indians are continuing to boost their social media presence and add to their interaction with fans.

Their latest attempt to add to the entertainment value of following the Indians is a supposed public access show hosted by the *ahem* cousin of Jason Kipnis, Jerry Kipnis. You will see that he indeed bears the family resemblance to Jason. The premier edition of the show landed Michael Brantley as the guest, which meant pairing the melancholy Dr. Smooth with the zany Jerry. Whether they are throwing out actual fishing lines or cheesey one-liners, the schtick at least worked to make me laugh and the Indians are hoping that those laughs make it through the fanbase.

The social media wing of the Cleveland Indians is certainly being helped out by the team for off the field entertainment as well. Trevor Bauer started the spring by building drones. The front office lured Terry Francona into a water balloon fight. Mike Aviles parked the car of Jose Ramirez on the field at Goodyear Park. And, a bunch of players took time out of their day to go and read mean tweets off the @Indians twitter account and provide their responses. If the on field games are half as entertaining as the social media buzz, then we are in for a fun season.

Really, it only leaves one question to ask: “Do you like selfies?”
