(Before I’ve listened). I’m intrigued by this because I listen to whatever sports podcast I can get my ears on and pay attention to media things and I liked Lull on the radio. But man, you can’t get me to listen to anything on 923 which is shocking because of drive time and office time I’m listening to some form of sports talk for about 4 hours a day.
I had no idea why Joe was gone. This is great you gave him an opportunity to explain his departure.
I thought Lull was usually one of the better hosts in Cleveland. Too bad he felt like he should give it up.
(After listening). Great podcast. Really enjoyed everything. Well everything besides hearing that Booms is one of the few who makes oodles of $ through sports radio.
Besides Booms, Lima is the worst. The hip, frat boy gimmick only goes so far.
I think he may have been referencing Kylie and Booms to be honest.
This guy should be a lawyer he’s so good at lying. “You can’t fire me, because I quit” Really?
You haven’t gone elsewhere because nobody wants you loser.
Joe,Sorry this happened to you,but if you’re happy now that’s what counts. I know what you’re talking about this station or any one on Sports Radio needs to have hosts ready when there on air and at 92.3 IMO there were Ken,Lima & Yourself were always ready and Kiley knows football & really never has a chance to get it out because of Booms. I think Booms,Adam & Jeff needs to go.Fox needs to study his craft more just be ready. I’d go 6am -10, 10am – 12 or 1pm if Ken did it. & Lima/Fox 12-4pm, 4-7 Tribe,Cavs pre game & Browns season. 7-11 no midnight Wilson & ? Updating scores and highlight of all game & Fanasty talk I don’t like Chris but maybe he would be ok,just no talking his girl shows. Joe we miss Ya but be Happy my Man,but I think something brings you back your own show.
Lima’s a nice guy. He’s a good host and he’s sarcastic as hell. Not a frat boy gimmick at all, really.
We don’t do comments like this here at WFNY.
I should have clarified, when he’s with Fox it seems that way. I gave his show a shot today and it actually wasn’t bad.
It’s infuriating that Lull hasn’t gotten better opportunities in town. He was the most informative host in town. He out-reports many of the Cavs and Browns beat reporters. He brings smart talent, sometimes unheralded, to his show. Agree with Lull or not, his opinions are founded.
This is a sad trend in Cleveland radio. Will Burge is another guy who worked hard for Browns info. Kenny Roda did the same with the Cavs and Browns. It’s not that other hosts don’t have a place in town, but the stations are becoming a lot more reliant on second-hand news, when available, from the Twitter accounts of name-brand national reporters.
Well, that was a decent hour’s worth of hate-listening. Outside of Chico and Lima, I’ve loathed all of the secondary personalities on 92.3, led especially Joe Lull. You cannot dub yourself the “Ombudsman of Cleveland Radio” and be a narrow-minded, condescending windbag. If being a true ombudsman would be too boring for sports radio, give yourself a different schtick.
Despite his assertions, it certainly seems like the station was looking for an excuse to fire him. One guy in the building was likely pulling for Joe and the rest wanted him out. Once he had his accident, the powers that be overwhelmed the one voice that was keeping him employed, and he was gone. And good riddance.
