Cavaliers and Boston Celtics inching closer to first-round matchup: WFNY Stats & Info
April 11, 2015So, about those new Browns uniforms…
April 12, 2015In advance of the Cleveland Browns’ April 20 offseason workout, second-year quarterback Johnny Manziel has been reportedly released from a the rehabilitation facility at which he has spent the last several months.
Capping off a rookie season that had more downs than ups, Manziel’s Week 17 was marred when the inactive quarterback was reportedly late to treatment for an injured hamstring following what was said to have been a party hosted by the player the night before. Manziel checked into the facility on Jan. 28 in an effort to “be a better family member, friend and teammate,” words obtained from a press release issued by a family friend and attorney, Brad Beckworth.
News of Manziel’s release includes positive reports surrounding the player’s progress from a mental standpoint.
The team says Manziel could conceivably join them prior to the month-end activities. The Browns will look to get Manziel back into the fold with new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo and quarterbacks coach Kevin O’Connell, who trained Manziel prior to the 2014 draft. Manziel is expected to compete for the starting job with veteran quarterback Josh McCown. McCown recently signed a three-year, $14 million contract worth $6.25 million guaranteed and is expected to have the inside edge to starting this coming season. The Browns also actively pursued Sam Bradford this offseason, and are reportedly interested in trading up for Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.
This news was first reported by ESPN.com’s Jeremy Fowler.

Love that we have progressed as a society where rehab and betterment are mostly seen as a positive now
Congrats Johnny!
First round’s on me!
Go Cavs!
I think they are looked at as more negatively if someone flamed out hard after many chances or relapses. Also, it seems as though some celebrities appear to use them for publicity and not for betterment.
I’m genuinely curious to see what he physically healthy and clearheaded Johnny Mansdale might look like. I don’t expect him to have any real success in the NFL, but I am curious to see if he can at least play reasonably well. It won’t be long before he relapses, and unfortunately the odds are just too high for that happening
perfect photo for this article … even if manziel ends-up not doing much as a QB in the nfl , he at least appears to have gained some respect back from his teammates & the fans.
i’m looking forward to seeing what focus & hard work will do for manziel & justin gilbert.
True, which is why there as such angst over his initial check-in. But, I do not think many spend 3 months in rehab without betterment in mind, so I give Manziel kudos for at least attempting to remake himself. Whether it works or not is still to be seen, of course.
“It” doesn’t work…the person works their program, every single day for the rest of their life.
Yes, good add-on. Just that the person has a better chance learning their program and the toolset to utilize if they spend more than a few days at a rehab facility.
I was encouraged to see him close to the 90 day program most recommended by in-take doctors and sponsors.
