2015 NFL Draft Gameplan for the Browns: Don’t trade up for Marcus Mariota
April 27, 2015Kelly Olynyk: “I’d probably get killed if I went to Cleveland right now”
April 27, 2015As most Cleveland fans are curious as to what impact Kevin Love’s injury will have on the rest of the NBA Playoffs and their city’s quest for its first championship in 50-plus years, many others—mostly national types—are curious as to what impact the forward’s dislocated shoulder will have on his impending free agency.
While Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski dissects the effect of Love’s injury occurring in Boston (as the Celtics have long been considered potential suitors), one interesting note seems worth mentioning:
It is only natural that if Love lost something significant in Boston – his season, for instance – embracing a free-agent move to the Celtics could be complicated, if not completely compromised. Love left the Garden with legitimate loathing of the Celtics on Sunday, and how that lasts could shape the future of the Cavaliers and Celtics.
Something else happened, too, on Sunday and maybe it turns out to be a benefit for Cleveland’s partnership with Love: The Cavs had his back. They went a little crazy, but they had his back. Kendrick Perkins leveled Jae Crowder on a screen, and J.R. Smith floored Crowder with a hellacious backhand to his face. They tried to hurt the Celtics back, and that doesn’t happen much in the NBA anymore.
It’s not Woj’s best piece. There’s some reporting, but a lot of speculation as to what could potentially occur. There’s a lot of psychoanalysis around a player and desire to test free agency waters. But for all of the talk of Love fitting in and having some apparent disconnect with Cleveland and his Cavalier teammates, it’s good to see some silver linings being tossed upon an NBA discussion that is perpetually fueled by player movement.

Amen Scott I just read this and all I can think of once again we have speculation passing as reporting. Even worse then this was a piece, I don’t remember where I saw it, but it had the Celtics broadcaster Maxwell reporting that some of the Cavaliers told him at halftime that they would pay the Celtics back for what happened to Kevin Love. C’mon man!
I still don’t get all this “Love is leaving” talk. Why would he leave one of the best teams in the league? To play for a sub-.500 7th seed that just got swept? To play for the bottom-feeding Lakers?
Why don’t we take him at his word that he’s staying until we have some evidence to the contrary?
Look, if you’re going to use things like “logic” and “facts,” we’re going to have to ask you to leave.
Good day sir.
I said, good day!!
Because THAT IS NOT THE NARRATIVE.
They need to create a story it’s been going on all year. Heck look at a lot of the Cavaliers coverage it’s more storytelling and speculating then reporting. Brian Windhorst I’m looking right at you big boy!
Pffff, facts.

I was waiting for someone to plant the seed on this ruining Love to Boston. Sort of surprised it was Woj though. Now, all the writers can link back to this article and note when Love re-signs that it was only because Boston ruined their chance and the Cavs showed him that they had his back.
Love: It was a Bush League play.
Woj: KEVIN LOVE NOW HATES BOSTON.
Lakers Blog: KEVIN LOVE TO SIGN WITH LA THIS UPCOMING OFFSEASON
Marc Berman: LEBRON JAMES MAY LEAVE CLEVELAND FOR NY WITH LOVE DEPARTURE
Won has a best piece?
Skip Bayless: Kyrie Irving will force his way out of Cleveland to join the Knicks!
actually. local fans might be surprised that the Celtics fan commentary (before yesterday) has been filled with speculation that he might sign there, including rumors of Kevin-in-Boston-on-Off-Day sightings. Just part of the eastern “why would anyone want to live there?” mentality. It’s way worse in baseball, where they always look at midwest stars and say “Hey, why don’t we sign that guy.”
Skip Bayless: Kyrie Irving is not a legitimate NBA point guard and therefore will never be a super star.
If anyone thinks what J.R. did to Crowder was connected to Olynyk and Love, they didn’t watch the sequence or any part of J.R.’s game between the game’s beginning and his ejection. This is just just column filler.
JR’s reaction to Crowder was Crowder riding up his back. Perkins putting Crowder on his butt was a reaction to Crowder continually running around with his antics.
“AWW THAT KEHVIN LOVE GUY’S GATTA WICKED SHOWT. HAND TO GOD, MY BUDDY SULLY SAWR HIM AND HIS DAD DOWN AT THE MAHKET BUYIN’ A WHOLE MESS’A CHOWDA ON HIS OFF DAY. IF THE C’S ARE SMAHT THEY’LL SIGN HIM AND THAT OTHA COLORED FELLA.”
“Uncoordinated” and “awkward” are not adjectives that go with “NBA basketball player.” Sorry.
And…Kevin Love was never going to Boston. I’m beyond bored of this discussion. Even when the man himself said he was going to be a Cavalier next season. Add to that the fact that he looked GREAT so far in these playoffs, and you have a pipe dream. Plus, if he really loves the Lakers could you ever see him in green?
By the way….The question everyone should be asking is: If the Cavs win this title with Love out injured, what happens next year?
right – and they probably wrote it down as a memo and disseminated it among themselves, just to make sure they could say, “did you get the memo?”
other than, “F that guy,” I can’t imagine anything else needed to be said.
Fizzy Lifting Drink sounds real good right about now.
totally. However, it was at least a little connected to Crowder running his mouth all series. Like I said, a poor man’s Ron Artest.
I don’t think that they keep Love benched for the rest of the playoffs regardless of how bad it is. Even if it’s surgery I bet they shoot up his shoulder and he plays limited minutes. Don’t forget how long the second season is too. Cavs plan to be playing in June.
