Ball Played: Indians continue Cleveland celebration

May 27, 2015Following just one season in Cleveland, General Manager Ray Farmer announced on Wednesday that the Browns have waived offensive lineman Nick McDonald (with an injury designation).
In his only season with the Browns, McDonald played in eight games (seven starts), all of which were at center, following Alex Mack’s season-ending broken fibula injury. The first six weeks of the season, McDonald was on the reserve/non-football injury list due to a wrist injury. In the eight games he played last season, he really struggled. ProFootballFocus graded his season with a team worst -28.3 overall grade. His season can probably be summed up in this play.
The 6-foot-4 veteran was undrafted in 2010, out of Grand Valley State. Now, it seems as though McDonald will look to join his fourth team heading into his fourth season in the NFL. Although he is well-traveled, he has had plenty of starts at multiple positions across the offensive line (center, right guard and left guard).
He has appeared in 24 games, starting 10 of those games in three years. He has played two seasons with the New England Patriots (16 games, 3 starts) and one season with the Browns in 2014-15.

Apparently the Browns are too good for a below average back up center. How high and mighty! /sarcasm font
Nick was not good.
Seymour played well enough to doom his career as a Browns backup.
I think Farmer was just tired of all the OL McDonald jokes….

Never forget.
I can’t tell if your post is serious or parody. If it’s the former, I feel obliged on behalf of all Browns fans that either attended or watched Weeden’s game, to point out your gross misstatement about Weeden. Weeden was not good.
Seymour is horrible and missed most of his blocks. He was quicker, but how many times have you seen a lineman with speed overshoot? Seymour was worse and McDonald was victimized by others missing their blocks and catching the blame. He is slower no doubt, but someone has to go and the guy who is healing slower seems to be the one. Good luck Browns fans with Seymour. I’m sure none of you remember him getting a false start flag last year. Please explain to me how a guy hiking the ball can not know the snap count? Ooops I guess I asked you a hard question.
Well, the Bears just released someone with the same last name for different reasons. I guess it could be worse.
The Browns had a good qQB in Hoyor & let him go. Why? Certainly not in favor of Johnnie Rehab or a has been.. The most important player on the team & they get rid of the best QB they had???
Why so serious?
About a third string center?
You a friend of McDonald?
Relax.
yeah, not sure why the harshness there. neither McDonald nor Seymour was good. we should be happy to have the depth that will make both of them expendable.
