May 13, 2015Cleveland Cavaliers center Kendrick Perkins was pulled over in suburban Westlake, OH Wednesday morning as a result of an alleged dispute between he and his wife. The story is ongoing and few specifics have come out, and thus we encourage everyone to wait until more is revealed before making judgments about the situation.

A 911 call that came through early Wednesday morning stated that a woman was hitting Perkins. Patrick Cooley’s story for Northeast Ohio Media Group includes a recording of the call.
No charges were made, and no citations were written as both individuals claimed that, despite the claims of the call, no physical activity occurred and that the fight was merely verbal. The team has issued a statement saying that they are aware of the dispute between Perkins and his wife, Vanity, but there have been no accusations of any wrongdoing. Kendrick cooperated fully with authorities and will continue to do so. He will travel with the team to Chicago.

Her hitting him called in by witness, she makes no assault claims, nor does he. No arrests, nada. So she got him up early to shop at Crocker before the team flight and everybody’s a little cranky. He has playoff face on and probably happy to get on that plane.
Local talk radio has more interesting controversies to create this week. Let’s move on.
We need him cranky. Team probably paid his wife to get him up early.
Sounds like we have someone who did the right thing by not responding to abuse from a woman. More guys should take note of this, and perkins should be praised (if the police report is accurate).
True that Perkins did the right thing. However, I’m concerned about the double standard we have about domestic abuse. Isn’t violence violence regardless of the gender committing it?
Yes but i didnt really want to touch on that. I have actually never seen a man hit a woman in my personal life, but ive seen the other way around at least a dozen times (Obviously it happens just not in front of me). Now obviously its different because a man (in most cases) can defend himself. But for every action theres a reaction. In no way would i ever condone a violent reaction, but the chance increases drastically. But to answer your question yes it is a double standard.
(sigh) i graduated from westlake before the hospital was built. i miss the days when it was “hick”.

I don’t understand how this was considered to be news (not just WFNY, but any outlet). No injuries, no charges filed… in the end, this is just paparazzi tabloid stuff.
