NFL Films’ “A Football Life” to produce episode covering Paul Brown’s legacy

May 20, 2015You knew LeBron James wasn’t going to be the only Cleveland Cavalier to get his own red, white and blue shoe in advance of the July 4 holiday, didn’t you? Though releasing a little later in the year, Nike’s Kyrie 1 is slated to join the LeBron 12 low in getting its very own “U.S.A.” colorway.
Though Irving himself was born in Australia (which is also getting a version of the Kyrie 1), he’s committed his skillset to Team U.S.A. basketball. This new colorway comes entirely with a Soar Hyperfuse upper. While the heel plate is without any sort of design, the forefoot underlay is that of an American flag. The sole is a standard contrast with White and Bright Crimson. The entire shoe is capped off with a Metallic Silver swoosh on both sides and a matching “KI” logo on the tongue.
The “U.S.A.” Kyrie 1 will release just in time for July 4, hitting shelves (physical and electronic) on Saturday, June 27. They’ll retail for the standard $110. They may not carry the same panache as the U.S.A. editions of a retro Jordan, but if this release has been anything like the others (save for “Brotherhood” which can still be found in many stores), they’re going to go fly.
