LeBron James and the Cavaliers playing with house money – WFNY Podcast – 2015-06-15
June 15, 2015J.R. Smith: We didn’t run out of gas
June 15, 2015After seeing Golden State’s Stephen Curry score 37 points on 13-of-23 shooting — including 7-of-13 three-pointers — in the Cavaliers’ 104-91 Game 5 loss, head coach David Blatt conceded that sometimes, a great shooter just makes great shots.
Curry’s shot-making was the deciding factor down the stretch, as he scored 17 of his 37 in the fourth quarter, including some especially difficult stepback threes late that sealed the deal.
“Not a lot you can do, honestly,” Blatt said of Curry after the game. “He made some terrific shots. There were a few where we made mistakes and we went under, or we didn’t stay connected, and that’s on us. But there’s a few that he made — more than a few — that were extremely difficult shots; high, high level shots, by a high level player.
“Sometimes you gotta take your hat off to the other guy, he made some tremendous shots.”
The Cavaliers had held Curry (somewhat) in check through first four games of the NBA Finals, led by the dogged defense of second-year guard Matthew Dellavedova, but Game 5 was the first in which Curry truly went off, and the Cavaliers simply could not conjure a counterattack.
The Cavs’ loss was not for any lack of effort on LeBron James’ part. The Cavaliers MVP played 45 of the game’s 48 minutes, totaling 40 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists while committing just 2 turnovers.
“Tremendous has been even an understatement for how he’s played in this series,” said Blatt of his superstar’s performance in the Finals. “Under the current set of circumstances, that’s what we’ve gotta get, and he’s bringing it. You don’t see that every day, what he’s doing.
“You gotta take your hat off to him, too.”
Blatt was asked what he expects out of James Tuesday night at Quicken Loans Arena, when the Cavs will try to force a Game 7.
“Should I expect more than 40 and a triple-double?”
With the short-handed Cavs fighting to stay alive against the league’s best team, led by 2014-15’s MVP, he may have to.
Game 6 is at the Q at 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

Yeah, when he’s chucking up contested threes there’s not much you can do.
But, when he drives the lane…

The more and more I watch Curry the less and less a fan I am. Granted it’s because he’s playing the Cavaliers I just wanna see him be put on his (_|_) one time. I know he’ll get up and make more shots but so what, good for him that’s what he’s supposed to do. Meanwhile you have LBJ carrying an under manned Cavaliers team posting triple doubles out the yin yang while being hit, scratched, poked, slammed and gashed in the head. I think it’s time for LBJ to borrow a page of out MJ’s book and not be so open with all of these reporters. Close things down, internalize and keep it all in house.
Sometimes you just have to tip your cap and say that Steph is your Daddy
Maybe Jerry Lawler & fellow wrestlers should be visiting Cavs instead huh?
